Nah. Piter was downplayed in this movie. In the novel the character is more sadistic and twisted and defiant. In this movie Piter is calmer, softer, more submissive and seems to be very afraid of the Baron. a negative point to the adaptation.

Even thought I’ve read the books, this scene just changed the movie for me for some reason. Up until this point it had seemed a little fairytale-ish, not too much seemed to be a stake, nobody seemed to take shit too seriously. Then this.

Lose the Catholic symbolism like Priests holding things that resemble Rosary beads putting the blood on the soldiers foreheads like it ash on Ash Wednesday.

Kind of funny, but it isn't until you reach Dune Messiah and Children of Dune that the truth of Salusa Secundus gets even more interesting. Not only is it the training ground for the Sardaukar, but it's also the home planet for House Corrino. Salusa Secundus is Emperor Shaddam's home world.

Duncan Idaho's death was laughably ridiculous. The part where he pulls the sword out of his body and screams made physically cackle in the theater.

I don't get why the Atredies soldiers move from off the of the top of the stair case and fight on the stairs, seems a rudimentary tactical error.

This movie is easily the best one ever. I can't wait to see if Dune Part 2 surpasses it.

In my personal opinion, this movie sucks not even close to the original that they tried to do a remake of. If you're bound in determined to go and see it, please smoke some mushrooms and eat some weed and snort a beer two. The only way I got through it is because I had fast forward and I used it.

The Sardauker speaking in a raspy-robotic like voice just shows how scary and realistic the Dune universe is as other planets can change human beings appearances and sounds, such as the Harkonnans (Pale Skin) and Fremen (Blue Eyes). There are probably other planets that humans have colonized and in turn gave them more features, probably animalistic ones which would look terrifying.

I saw this movie and immediately thought of the Warhammer 40k universe. I know this came before that, but it's nice to not be completely clueless

What a hero Villeneuve is. I have to say I was quite skeptic going into the movies and stories; boasting about being the next Star wars and/or LOTR. Now I'm completely into the entire universe, what a story and idea. The first time I wanted to see any movie more then once in more then a decade.

That Atreides salute Denis Villeneuve came up with is badass 🫡

I never understood why aren't the swordsmen equipped with metal plated armor (or even something like kevlar). If you need a slow hit to penetrate the shield, wouldnt the armour be able to protect against a slow attack?

It very much looks like Villeneuve had the Sardaukar general's actor speak the words in plain English, then dubbed an alien language over it, but with the same mouth movements. That's so awesome.

2.48...so they CAN use ranged weapons if the projectile can slow pass through the shield. Why not just fashion bullets with the same capability as that dart?

First time i watched this movie was on a large dose of shrooms, it was tbf a religious experience.

Okay but the name Duncan Idaho really breaks the illusion I have to be honest.

the clip looks like Alien, but Villeneuve has talent to get his shots wrong in this movie (didnt he do Arrival?) that black shadow blocking of the Sun a Ship drifting over the assembled troops? Ridley Scott wouldve shown it. Maybe they save the good views for the directors cut.
