As an over-70 foreigner who attempted to retire in Thailand, look to Alliance which is an excellent German insurance company. Alliance has excellent ratings but the Thai government would not recognize them as a provider of health insurance, pre-2019. Hopefully that will change.

I've never been to Samui but something tells me I need to visit before these new port facilities are built. The island will not be the same once those floating megastructures, (cruise ships) start arriving.

With regards to the story about the pilot in Chiang Mai. I flew out of Chiang Mai on Saturday morning and Doi Sutthep was totally occculted.

let's face it, with so many tourists liking chiang mai, there is a reason that place is still so affordable, and it's because the air pollution that keeps the insane inflation rates like in phuket away.

The MFP isn't doing something wrong. They are running on what people want to see happen. If their opponents pull out all the stops to prevent what the people want from happening, that's how it will go. This election was once again a bit of a sham. I'll be pleasantly surprised if the next one isn't too. It needs the establishment to move from a 19th century mindset to a 21st century one. At their ages, I doubt they can change, so letting them get old and pass is the country's best bet for democracy.
