i think its a little strange to complain about there being less buttons on a VR controller with finger tracking. you do not need buttons when you interact with the world using your actual hands. there is no button to pick something up because to pick it up you just... do. the only buttons on a vr controller should be to open menus and interfaces otherwise inaccessible through the game/vr environment. like a pause menu, interaction wheel, etc. (sometimes inventories, though those have in-game solutions too)

I watched all the reviews, I ignored all you said. Within 3 hours the base station went red. My son is a lunatic with the meta for months, scuffed but works flawless.

Back then, things like these were are a problem but now my only problem with them is how easily the plastic shows wear in after eight months.

fuck the click, the range on my left analog stick in the forward direction is cut in half in the first week of owning it. I can't even walk, let alone run.

I think what's more important is the positioning of the thumbsticks.

The problem isn’t that you can’t click it, at least in my experience… It’s that if you ever do, it will break. Had it for a few months, and whenever I go backwards, I can’t stop going backwards even after releasing the stick. Increase the deadline, and I can’t go back at all. Can always go forward either at least not at a consistent speed. They’re going to replace it though! They’re pretty good about that.

I think they just wanted it to look at slick as possible, and any good analog wouldn't have fit their form factor perfectly. They likely chose aesthetics over quality.

I guess I must've been lucky enough to get controllers with analog sticks that work just fine, because mine click and everything even when turned and such, haven't even had any issues in games like Garry's Mod with VRMod where you have to hold the stick down to run

Valve is the worst with customer support too i've been trying to get one button fixed for 5 days now and keep getting the run around with no actual details on how to. They just keep telling me my warranty is expired... I get that now where do we go from here? lol wtf

200 hours in and I don't have any issues I've been told by people something would break at like 100 hours and it still looks like new at 200.

this makes me feel less bad about having a quest 2 lol

I hate analog sticks. The Steam Controller is the best controller ever designed. I haven't tried the knuckles controller, but it obviously needs a bigger touch pad.

So you are basically saying, that the analog stick doesn't click? Thats no huge deal to me... my joy cons don't click aswell when pointing in another direction.

my knuckles analog stick click in all directions, and even when idle. Maybe valve updated their controllers. considering I got my index last week

Honestly the sticks being the worst thing on these controllers makes a lot of sense considering valve didn’t want to include them in the first place.

Nintendo Switch analog sticks are still worse.

i know this is a year old and you probably wont see this, and i know this is fixed with newer batches of headsets, but let me theorize why they were very bad on launch

the sensor inside it probably hindered the thumbstick, and thats why it got drift

I think you should normalize your volumes. I set my volume so I can comfortably hear you and when the music started playing it was way too loud.
