WTF? Hope you got an F on this project. Slavery lasted much longer than 110 years. And what do you mean, "no hatred"?

Look kid, I've seen The autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. The first time I saw it, you weren't born yet. Your verbiage says, and I quote, "110 years, of slavery, loss, suffering, and anguish, but still not a drop of hatred. Stay away from this subject, kid. Stick to things you're more versed about, like weed. Thats it! Do a project on the history of pot smoking! Kewl!

I assumed the creator of this video meant that Pittman herself had no hatred, not that she endured no hatred. I thought the video was good. I don't see what the confusion is about. I am not a history teacher, but I think it is an A+ video! Plus, an acoustic version of the Wallflowers' Sleepwalker!!! A++ for music selection!

Can't believe two of the 3 comments here are negative. Some people just can't read. NO HATRED means she didn't have any. She lived 110 years and endured many hardships including slavery, which she was born into. Sheez!!

hey can someone help me with these questions of the autobiography of miss jane pittman. How do you feel about Jane and about what she has endured? What is Jane originally called? Why does Colonel Brown rename her? What might the name represent to Jane? What decision does Jane make upon hearing that she is free? During her travels, why do people try to make her change her mind? What do her responses to them suggest about her personality?

Re: "Slavery lasted much longer than 110 years". It continues to this very day if you think about it.

I am always amazed at the level of ignorance I see in these comments...Jane Pittman was a FICTIONAL character. You're using a computer, why not USE it and do a little research before you attack someone you're obviously not equipped to debate...

ms jane was real - her life was based loosely on a neighbor's mother ( ms williams) who was 106 years old former slave . that was in the early 1970's when i was growing up in compton ca on a street called bennette . cicily tyson and paramont pics came to interveiw her and to study her and take pics of her . she was my neighbor she died around 1977 . she received a letter and a phone call from presedent jimmy carter on her 106 birthday rip

Some African Americans that were born slaves from the 1850s to the early 1860's did survive into the 1960's.They lived long enough to see laws enforced on their equal rights. They got to see desegregation in schools in the 50's.When did the last person born into slavery die?
