ОтветитьWhat will happen to it when it gets wet?? When I got my hide wet it absorbs all the water and feels like raw hide again, then it dries sorta hard. It’s definitely tanned I just don’t know what’s wrong. When it drys it is really easy to stretch and make soft again.

This was a great tutorial, and the information was spot on. So, my question: would North American buffalo have been available in 18th century Ontario?

ОтветитьThank you for the video. You take pH UP to make it alkaline. Rinsing in clean water doesn’t take it to “zero” pH, it be good to to a “neutral”pH or 7

ОтветитьHello, I'm sorry if this will be a repeat question... I did go through many of the comments, but didn't see it... If keeping the hair on, do you scrape until you start to see the root of the hair? My understanding is that's too much, but I've heard mixed opinions lately. Thank you.

ОтветитьI've watched this video several times. I've got to say that you cover everything in great detail , but I ground my draw knife like you said with a square edge and used it on the hide I'm doing and now I think you're full of.......

How do I keep the hair on the hide?
ОтветитьNot a 0 pH you mean neutral pH which is about a 7. Just google pH scale. a zero pH is extremely acidic. A pH scale goes from 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14, with 7 being the middle of the scale or neutral 14 is corrosive, 0 is acidic.

ОтветитьHydrated Lime is not the same thing as Agricultural Lime. Hydrated is used in construction, also use for preserving fresh eggs.
