I loved this film and agree w/you it might not be perfect, but its perfectly enjoyable and a future classic. I've seen it twice already and might go a third time if I have time. Good times. 🤘

Decent sci fi, well done VFX...but the "Do robots have souls?" and AI gone rogue themes have been done a million times, so didn't feel particularly new or insightful.

I think heaven is a way for humans to justify killing robots, in the movie there are points where they say something like I’ll see you in heaven or whalhalla to other humans while to robots they say they’ll just turn of, it’s a way for them so say they’re not real and it plays a huge role in Joshua’s character arc and some of the questions in this movie.

Joshua goes from someone who believes robots just turn off, something he says at several points in the movie, even directly to alphie, to someone who truly believes even robots will go heaven.
He goes from only humans go to heaven to, you have to be good to go to heaven.

I also think it’s a way to question AI for us, if something by our standards doesn’t go to heaven should we consider it as alive, even if it’s programmed or made to be exactly like humans and if it was good enough to go to heaven.

Idk that’s my take.

Fantastic film, I was genuinely touched by this movie. Haven’t seen a movie that made me feel that way in a long time.

Just watched The Creator. For me, this is one of the BEST sci-fi film I've seen in the last decade. It's a visual masterpiece. It's an emotional gut punch. And Madeleine Yuna Voyles should be nominated for an Oscar. Can't wait to buy this one on 4K.

I cried during the time when Alphie was crying because I felt really bad for her, and especially Miya machine that was suppose to help keep her alive was shut down. I was sad throughout the movie

To me, it was like Prometheus. Looked great, but the plot was a lot of nonsense. I could tell it was meant to be emotional, but for me, that fell completely flat. 6/10

Strong 6/10 lots of bullshit I couldn’t look past. Concept and cinematography amazing could’ve been done much better though script, acting and logistics wise

Fantastic film but I can't believe all the effort so many are putting into hating it. The elephant in the room I suspect are many are disregarding or just taking a pass on this movie due to the degree of its inclusive casting. A vocal portion of the Star Wars fandom will belittle it for that alone.

if anyone reads my lame ass interpretation....imo this film is a big inditement on the west especially american imperialism. how the west exploits the east (and other nations) and goes to war with threats that dont fall in line with their beliefs. in the intro the military official says they arent at war with the people in the east yet they have no problem killing humans in the east as collateral. i think the ai theme of the movie isnt as interesting as the portrayal of the west being the bad guys invading foreign lands under pretences of manifest destiny. the ai theme is a contemporary issue but it is wrapped in themes of historical relationships between the east and west which i think bolsters the whole idea of the movie. we dont see this super often esp with how hollywood likes to portray america as altruistic saviours in order to act as propaganda for the military. this movie to me is anti imperialism, anti war and anti hate.
evans references the orientalist tropes of futuristic robot/cyberpunk/ cyber distopian narratives but instead of using the east as an exotic threat to the west, the reversal flips the orientalism to the antithesis- western imperialism.
heard stuckman say the movie is derivative of blade runner, elysuim, district 9 etc, and i agree but i think the east vs west cultural aspect of this film sets it apart enough.

Would love to see a part two out this movie or even a trilogy of possible too see her grow up like dude said and see what becomes of a future where we lurn to respect life even if artificial 😊

I went to watch it after all the positive comments...movie dragged and I walked out after 2/3 of the movie

So bad. Such a bad movie.

The movie really wasn’t that good the only good thing about the movie was the visuals… emotionally and the story/pacing all fell flat, and that’s not even mentioning all the logical plot holes/ many aspects of the story just don’t add up… it’s beyond clear you can see the heavy handed writing by the story writer forcing things to be a certain way none of which natural, logical or could be that way, it really forced the viewer to extend their disbelief beyond what’s sensible given to the viewer…

I wish i could watch this movie. Today i was intended to watch it but the stupid cinema in my town decide to dump this movie and change it with cheap horror movie and cheap romance movie because there are more people that watch those two movies.


What i was upset is that "The Creator" movie didn't even make it for one week in the theatre. This kinda make me lose faith in humanity to be honest.

It just dawned on me but I wonder if Maya had designed the Alphie on purpose to look like her and Joshua's child so as to not only prevent the Alphie from being killed but to also swing the A.I revolution in their favor.Anyways such a great movie. A movie that us Sci-Fi heads really needed lol

I loved it. I’d give it a 9/10. But the trailers were awful and made it seem like it’s all about AI. I think it’s good to know that the AI basically represents any oppressed people. It’s very symbolic of the Vietnam War.

I had to go to this movie and watch it from your perspective Just to see if you caught something, I didn't. I stopped watching it after about 20 minutes or 30 minutes. I started fast-forwarding through it and gave up and decided to come here

I just don't like how it doesn't explain How his daughter died for them to be able to call. Be her brain and what you have to copy her brain when she's still alive to get any type of thoughts and feelings recorded. I thought this was a pretty dumb movie that obscene time and time again There was nothing original about it

The most unrealistic element in the movie is how the East adopted ai to their lives but are unable to detect American soldiers invading their land. Surely with the ongoing war, ai would have been better used to defend their key installations.

I liked it. The ending was almost abrupt. It wasn't a satisfying ending.

I wonder if there’s an extended cut. I feel the same about some moments needing some elaboration. Madeleine’s performance was truly breathtaking! I’ve never seen a kid that could actually make me ball up like that! She’s really made a nuke-size (no pun) impact for herself here!

Great review. Agree with almost everything your saying. Only difference would be the opinion of pacing, however, that’s definitely a personal preference and also, partially a feeling/opinion that may change viewing to viewing.
