Watch these! They will pack coiled fluorescent lightbulbs until they’re full & they cause a fire hazard for homes. They also kill off the beautiful wild native ladybugs, they will burrow into the crevices of the roof of your dog’s mouth—so be aware!
And, as a farmer with organically grown heritage apples here in the Okanagan, most of my pest control is done by hand with vigilance! Which means that I see these little imposters finding their way into ANY damage on an apple, and they burrow in and you can see that hole full of frass and the bugs—it gives me the creeps! I’ve started drowning any damaged apples in totes of water with these rotten bugs in them, in hopes of lessening their numbers & preventing at least a little damage.
