Mcmurphy is a christ figure. The inmates are Christians.
Nurse ratchet is the catholic church.
Flavians created Christianity to give the messianic jews a kinder gentler religion.
Mcmurphy takes them fishing, billy rats him out, judas, then kills himself. Kesey didn't write this story. Freemasonry..I am the walrus.

The stare that Jack and the nurse give each other sets their relationship all up. In my opinion.

Peculiar!!!!!! Never has one word before and after this had created so much laughter for the movie audience, I remember working in a movie theater as an usher when this came out and when this scene came on and the actors kept mentioning peculiar the audience would crack up laughing right up to the end of this scene when McMurphy and nurse Ratchet had their staredown

This Scene is so true
I don't know about the USA but here in South Australia group therapy does not exist. The truth about this scene is Harding arguing with Taber(Chris Lloyd from back to the future, a very underrated actor)
Harding and Taber are normal people caught up in a system that is only there to sell drugs and force their drugs onto people.
I have spent 5 years of my life locked up in their hospitals , my whole adult life dealing with people including doctors who are compulsive liers .They don't even no my name after 35 years. Even the scene where the big guy is man handled and locked up in seclusion is real..

I never saw or wanted to believe that the malice in Nurse Ratched's eyes was that obvious to see. She really was evil. Louise Fletcher was a masterful actress.

At the end - the piercing look that Mac Murphy gives Nurse Ratchet is incredible, indelible and priceless. Same with the look Ratchet returns to Mac. This scene kills me.

Love watching these scenes from all types of films but the comments are just cringe. Everyone thinks far too deeply about them and tries so hard to unearth some hidden meaning that isnt even there. Like the one chump who claimed The Chief is the main character. No, he really isnt. He symbolises a lot but thats where it ends. Yall need to stop trying so hard to act intelligent and just enjoy the damned scene!

I have always seen Nicholson as a sexust. I never saw any movie he did where he showed repect for the main women characters. He was alwsys contemptuous, disrespectfu, angry and nany times violent in scenes with women. I understand he was a male who had a lot of one nighters and that is considered a sign of manhood in men. I see it as a sign of disrepect for himself and the women he woukd nevrr commit to. I feel in Nicholson a rage toward women, at least on screen.
