hey jack! would you ever consider trying out rain world? its a bit difficult in some spots but the story telling is similar to games like inside and little nightmares where its vague and you piece it together yourself!

If people ever let me, I can talk all day about the shockwave puzzle from this game. It quite simply is one of the best levels in any game ever. Not just because of its puzzles, but because of its sound design, its music, its visuals, its consequences - and even lack thereof - for losing, and most importantly, for it's progression. To me, it's set up in four stages: You're boned, you getting somewhere, you're so close, you did it, which is perfectly reflected in how Inside makes use of it's soundtrack, and the Wwise sound engine. It really is a game that listens.

And it doesn't insult your intelligence with text promps, telling you what to do or when. Instead, it allows you to figure it out completely on your own, and while the music cues are there to help, it's more of a part of the immersion and the atmosphere. You're figuring it out, you're beating the puzzles, and the game rewards you for it as you're progressing. Then there are all the small details, like the light at the end flickering on and off being IN KEY with the music, and the van getting pushed ever so slightly closer toward you, as the shockwave keep chugging along.

I could go on forever.

Inside is indeed a 10/10 game.

I played this when I was a small brain twelve year old and didn't notice any story telling. But now I realize this game is very much a masterpiece

9 is an awesome science fiction animated movie that reminded me a decent amount of this game! it's set in a post-apocalyptic world where machines wiped out the human race and only sentient rag rolls exist in their place, except the machines are hunting down the dolls as well. i would give it a look! very steam punk vibes :)

Theory: (not going to actually look for the real thing) The workers are lab grown slugs, with no actual consciousness to speak of. If left to their own devices, they simply die from starvation or dehydration. The requirement for the slugs came about after whatever cataclysm destroyed half the world, and there were not enough humans to perform the tasks required. Research on the slugs began before the apocalypse because humanity knew the end was nigh, already. The glowy nodes are routers for the slugs, power amplifiers (this is uncertain because breaking one, nearby slugs still function). Yellow cables are a common networking sight. The big splodey thing is part of what caused the issues in the first place, remnant of an "old world" power station core, that has gone critical. The game takes place at some point when the humans start to notice that the slugs are evolving, thinking on their own. The main character (child) is the newest, fastest, best version of the evolution. The child has the ability to control the mindless without the tech the humans use. Think along the same lines as the Ood from Doctor Who. The people who help are those who believe the slugs (and other experiments) to be sapient, and want to free them. The movement has been growing for a number of years, and scientists have been helping the slugs grow and evolve, so they may one day free themselves and live along side the humans.

Unlike what Jack says, most of inside is actually a one-dimensional game, not 2. That's what makes this game so brilliant!!
