I love your videos.
ОтветитьSuperb. I shall watch all of these. Thank you very much. I watched the original broadcast of Sir Kenneth Clarke's "Civilisation" on BBC in the late 1960's. . I was 8 years old. It was a seminal influence upon me. We had little money, but my mother bought the paperback and I would sit on the front room carpet and soak up the pages. You are making very valuable work..
ОтветитьGreat
Ответитьwent to wallace collection and soane a few times without realising how great they are. i will cherish them more the next time.
ОтветитьI apologize if I overlooked them but I would love to watch a segment on John Martin. His depictions of landscapes in dramatic Bible accounts are breathtaking and would love to see a deep dive on any of them
ОтветитьFantastic! ❤
ОтветитьI just visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art and was utterly blown away. They have a breathtaking collection of American art, on which you could do a phenomenal video. I would particularly love to see Thomas Eakins showcased.
ОтветитьI've been through the vast Wallace collection many times as I was working in London for a while and the building is parallel to a walkway through a park that I used to cut through. So I spent about 15 minutes inside each time and would then continue my walk. It is an outstanding collection and a huge grand house that contains the treasures. And it was all free admission. I recommended it to many Londoners who did not know it was there, and they soon became enamoured of the collection.
The Laughing Cavalier was truly iconic, I could not stop returning to see it!
Mind you, London is one of those iconic cities. The dome of St Pauls, Big Ben... need I say more?
You could cover the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, I've been there and it is magnificent and totally FREE.
Loved this one in particular, great and so well informed - ALSO refreshing to hear some solid critique of art hoarding by the super rich <3 I would love an exploration of museums local to philly, The PAFA and the Barnes Foundation come to mind!! Thank you for your hard work!!
ОтветитьOh my god! The content of your channel is amazing but can we take a moment to appreciate the editing? Your effort in highlighting the subject you’re talking about & finding just the right music for the artworks. Chapeau!
Ответитьthe world needs more men??
ОтветитьThe Currer Museum in Manchester New Hampshire USA, is a gem of a place.
Cheers Jeff
Could you do a set on the East Jesus Art Garden in Slab City CA? It is the only official museum in California’s Imperial County, just South East of the Salton Sea
ОтветитьDulwich Picture Gallery please! Thank you for this video, I subscribed immediately
ОтветитьThis is the second video I watch after Paris and I am overwhelmed by how great they are. They make the viewers better persons, they teach so much. Thank you cert very much.
ОтветитьBrilliant!
ОтветитьThe world needs more *people*, not just men, to do as they did. :)
ОтветитьGreat video as usual. I agree with your perspective on how today's riches turned art into a commodity. It is a shame that a lot of art pieces are not available for public view but sit somewhere in the dark.
ОтветитьWhilst working at Goodwood House I’d opportunity to study very closely, for extended periods of time, many of Hogarth’s prints..
It’s interesting to see them “coloured-in”..🤔
I have recently discovered your a great art series. When I was in my teens every Saturday morning I would bid my parents a farewell and take the Subway to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was one of the most incredible art experiences of my life and have visited dozens of Museum since then in U.S. and
Europe.
Thank you for reminding us how important art is to all of us.
I love this fabulous art education- thank you!
ОтветитьPlease, make a video about Gulbenkian museum in Lisbon.
ОтветитьPlease do an episode on The Frick
ОтветитьBotero's museum in the city of Medellin, Colombia has a very impressive collection. Could be a great entry in your series.
ОтветитьI really love The Swing painting. Especially all those hidden meanings inside.
ОтветитьThank you for your such well-researched and high-quality videos! I'm using this channel as my foray into the world of art, and I don't think there's a better way!
ОтветитьGran información , gracias
Ответить🌈🌈🌈
ОтветитьThank you so much for another great video. My travel plans for the next couple of years do not involve going to Northern Europe, so I especially enjoy these lesser known museums that I know I wont be seeing myself. Thank you
ОтветитьSuch different collections..Soane's is very close to me because it embraces architecture, interior design, and art. His house is a precursor of Art Deco, and its interiors to Post-modernism; the interiors are an homage to light and its relation with the perception of space, furniture, and art; Finally, art, is the crown that gives sense and gravitas to all. It is a wonderful museum a must for architects and art lovers.
ОтветитьGood grief - the dozens of times I have been for walks on Hampstead Heath and walked right past Kenwood House never knowing it was full of incredible paintings- I could kick myself! Also, I visited the Soane back in the 1990s when studying in London. It is so memorable and wonderful that last year I took my family to see it. However, I had no idea that The Rakes Progress paintings were housed inside. Finally, the Wallace collection- that will be next on my places to visit when I next go to London. Superb video, as always!
ОтветитьMore videos on Art Gallery with their painting, please.
ОтветитьThese are just so wonderful. I feel nourished when I watch them. I am so grateful to you. There is so much work involved in making them. Please know that these light up my day. Thank you!
ОтветитьThanks so much for introducing Canaletto's paintings at the Wallace collection in this VDO. I have never heard of this artist before. His paintings are really exquisite.
ОтветитьExcellent! How did I miss this? Thank you.
ОтветитьInsightful and very enjoyable. Thank you.
ОтветитьWhat a gift your videos are, James! Thank you; I hope you will continue to enrich our lives.
Ответитьthanks a lot for your in-depth and insightful videos! the materials are golden!
ОтветитьWhat a lovely ending of social call! Thank you for this trip to London!
ОтветитьThank you, thank you, thank you! Your works keep my soul alive with Art!
ОтветитьIt's amazing that a painting by Rembrandt is considered to be one of the best paintings in the whole art collection of London, one of the most important cities in the world, and Rembrant was born in the same Dutch city as I was, with a population no more than 100.000, and the place where his house used to be is a relatively tucked away location in the city but still one of my favorite places in the whole city.
ОтветитьHi, anyone, what is the name of the classical song that plays at the beginning of Sloane's segment. too short to shazam. Great video
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьThank you for your work.
Ответитьthe Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Florida is my favorite!!!
ОтветитьLove it. Please talk more about less known museums. Thanks
ОтветитьThere are several small art museums in Taos, New Mexico, USA, that tell a fascinating story. The Anglo-American art colony that began there in the early 20th century has evolved over time and persists to this day, inspired by light, landscape, local cultures, and long-standing art practice of the Indigenous people and colonizing Spanish.
ОтветитьYet another amazing video James, thank you 😊. Inspired us to go visit Kenwood house today. Great to have an insight into the house and its art. Thanks.
Ответить"By contrast. The wealthy today see art as a commodity." "They often hide great artworks in freeports. Offshore tax free storage to sit an increase in value." "Art can enrich the soul, not the bank balance."
