That clip alone is better than 90% of all the Star Trek I have ever seen. I cant stop watching it. I dont know who you are, but you understand what Star Trek fans want to see. The thrusters firing is the best part. The scope is something never before seen in Star Trek. At least not by me. I am grinning from ear to ear.

When you look at that speed on impulse you realise why only thrusters in docks. That couldve gone way worse

Stellar work (no pun intended), even if I'd also love to see it with Cliff Eidelman's score - in my humble opinion the best of all the Star Trek scores overall. I've created a quick 'n dirty version of this section with Eidelman's score which I'm happy to share if anyone cares.

This is spectacular! It really captures that feeling that I love from this era of Trek movies, making you feel the sheer size and mass of the ships and stations, and creating such a rich, deep, lived-in environment. There's a unique magic to it that no other era of Trek has managed to replicate. I've always felt this scene in particular was a bit rushed in the VFX department, and I'm glad to see it finally get the lavish treatment it deserves. While I'm sure it would be a huge amount of work, I'd love to see versions of the full films with new visual effects in this style.

Excellent edting! As much as I love the spooky minimalism of the cliff eidleman score, This scene definitely benefits from the horner mythic grandeur. Excellent editing, both music and picture. New animations are spot on too, But I kept getting distracted looking at that not-quite-Miranda starship in the background. 😂

Great job! It's funny, this is my favorite scene in all of the movies. I like how they show systems ready, talk to dockmaster/control/ATC and they maneuver out. This never gets shown and it's cool, plus a great movie. Again, nice job with this.

Pony Hortons "Cooking with gas" shows what 1/10 impulse can do to a dry dock. Pissed off the yard master but good as he was hanging on as the impulse engines rattles the structure.

Not a science guy at all here so if someone could educate me about what I'm about to say I would seriously appreciate it. Would a gravitational wake be created from this, kind of like a wake in the water, but instead it pulls you from the gravity being created? So like if I was in a space suit cleaning the windows outside (because you know the plot demands it) and they go 1/4 impulse, would I just be turned into goo and sucked out into the void of space from their thrust?!

Damn. What a great scene. James Horner's scores were always more fitting for the 23rd Century much like Dennis McCarthy and Jerry Goldsmith fit the 24th Century better. The Connie Refit being agile makes a ton of sense. Her decks are comprable to USS Voyager both roughly have 15 decks and close to the same size (design notwithstanding). The way Ent/Ent-A moves in the movies are what the Galaxy Class Enterprise D should be. The Sovereign Enterprise E is a happy medium which is well represented in the TNG movies, similar to the Excelsior class in DS9

Ooh. Love the lateral thrusters and the depiction of the speed of 1/4 impulse. They NEVER depict the ships going this fast in the movies unless it's in warp.

One gripe I have is the way the Earth gets left behind so fast. The earth is sooo much larger than space dock that it would barely seem to move. I like animations that show proper scales like this.

I cannot stop watching this. I absolutely love it. Everything is amazing, actual film-quality graphics work; it doesn't look like pure CGI as so many still-excellent fan works do. So very, very well done. And excellent choice of thumbnail for the video; I've always wanted to see those thrusters fire!
Also, the perspective on the inside of TerraMain Spacedock really and finally lets you feel just how cavernously massive that docking volume truly is, and all the small craft buzzing around inside the dock plus several full-sized Class 1-B starships really sell that sense of scale
The selection of ships you have in Spacedock; a Miranda, an Oberth, a Loknar (Phobos version?), the original pre-production design of the Miranda with the nacelles and photon pod inverted, and what I can only describe as a New Technology/TMP version of the Declaration class pre-Constitution survey cruiser. Absolutely fantastic! Loved seeing them all.

Too bad everyone gets the scale wrong. The officers lounge shown on the ship is 5x too large. Remember, this is more than just a ship to ride like a boat with 5 or 6 people on deck seated around. It’s a small city with everything one could think of that would be needed to survive in space for long durations. That means 80% of the ship is needed for engines, piping, air-handling, electrical, computer banks and backups, complete galley with tons of stored foods, deflector dish components to force foreign objects out of a starships way traveling at work drive. A complete hospital with every single testing equipment made. And, that means there are several doctors onboard, trained in Human physiology and other species. Massive tanks of potable water and sewage reclamation. Navigation would need to be its own department constantly gathering and programming information into the master computer. Communication and ease-dropping would be needed to gather information on new and old worlds (or space going races). This could mean potentially unfriendly worlds to avoid. Engineering and warp drive control would be and require large spaces. On top of this comes the maintenance department. All technician’s able to repair highly complex systems. This department alone would have 60 to 70 people (or aliens) to work preventive maintenance along with corrective maintenance. The ship would also have to be big enough to house an entire colony if necessary for weeks at a time to move people from place to place. Yes starships also double as space going sea liners. That means shops, movie theaters, lounges, restaurants, and more. Someplace on the ship would be enough room and protection from the elements to actually grow vegetation. It could also possibly handle livestock. Colonies might need to bring everything with them to emulate condition required to start a colony. So a starship is much more than just a weapon of war or defense. A starship makes it possible to survive in space and on another world for months or even years. So when you see the captains lounge at unrealistic scales, the rest of the saucer section would require on the crawl on your hands and knees to fit in. In other words, the scale isn’t correct based on its mission declaration.
