The Wii was by no means fragile back in the day, these days the Plastic gears in the disc drive avocate to more failures than the laser itself, thankfully you CAN 3D print them due to some legends in the modding community.

The rechargeable batteries are a bunch of crap. You'll put them on the charger, then a few seconds later, they'll stop charging, claiming to be fully charged, only for you to use them and they last like 30 seconds.

The Wii actually does have the capability of playing DVDs, the only problem is that Nintendo didn't want to pay a license for every Wii they sold, so they ended up disabling the feature through the system's firmware. You can re-enable it through softmodding your wii though.

I think the broken wiis is just because WAY more people owned a Wii than those who owned a Gamecube, hence why there would be more broken consoles

Fun fact the wii was supposed to play DVD the disk spinning animation is still in the code but it is set 0 and when you set it to 1 the DVD disk thing will show up

The Wii was the highest selling console Nintendo made until 2021 when the switch passed it. So it makes sense you see a lot of them broke just from the sheer amount of them out there.

wii has to be my favorite nintendo console ever. I do like the game boy and all and it would be tied with the wii in my favorite consoles, but everything for the gamecube now is SOOOO expensive, the cheapest copy of mario kart double dash I found was $35, and it was a japanese version with scratches on it and no box. I was on ebay and saw just the box to mario kart double dash, and it was still sold for $25

To be honest Wii is still awesome I had it since 2013 brfg8e wife ended, and now Wii is moldded like Nintendo never ended there wifi, I got WADS Wiimmfi to play Online and Riiconnect24 all things work on Wii like it's 2008 again
