The Su-34, also known as the 'Fullback', is a Soviet-origin Russian twin-engine, twin-seat, all-weather supersonic medium-range fighter-bomber or strike aircraft. Developed from the Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker air superiority fighter, the Su-34 entered service in 2014 with the Russian Air Force. With its distinctive broad, flattened nose and impressive offensive capabilities, the Su-34 is nicknamed the 'Hellduck' or 'Platypus'. Equipped with a powerful radar, laser targeting system, and a wide range of weapons options, including air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, guided bombs, and rockets, the Su-34 is a lethal force in the air and on the ground. It can carry up to 12 external hardpoints and an internal weapons bay that can accommodate up to 8,000 kg of munitions, making it a formidable fighter-bomber. The Su-34's performance capabilities, including its top speed of over Mach 1.8, combat range of over 4,000 km, and high service ceiling of 15,000 meters, allow it to conduct long-range missions and operate at high altitudes. Its spacious cockpit, featuring side-by-side seating, armored protection, and crew amenities such as a galley, toilet, and sleeping berth, provide comfort and convenience for its two-man crew.
