Im about to buy and used in perfect conditionDual Rectifier. What should I pay attention when testing it? What setting should I do to test it for Metal sound?

I am afraid to get a new one... or even old one for that matter. It seems like they are do for something totally new or a 4 channel recto similar to what they did with the RK and roadster. Yes I know they came out with the badlander, but I mean like an updated 4 channel recto with reverb and more features, JMO

BRO i bought this amp and a 4x12 mesa cab along with the foot switch for $1,400 this past weekend. I saw iton offerup while working a graveyard shift and practically woke up with shock. Best buy of my life so far. The 1st owner used this for a church band. Lmao

Love this amp but why name it after an option of such little importance as rectification types ? Might as well call it the dual voltage 120/240. In classic Mesa fashion, why not also add a switch to change the power LED color?

How about a Soldano SLO 30 in place of this for the ergonomics? Can the Soldano achieve the sounds of the Dual Rectifier for pop punk, NFG, Story of the Year, Simple Plan, Yellowcard genre’s?

I own a multi watt dual rec and run my helix through the fx loop so the amp acts as the power amp and I have the best of all worlds.

I usually run the cable to my butt,is that ok?

This or a mk v not sure 😅

Mesa Boogie 150w TRIPLE Rec owner here, LOVE my amp! Spent years in Nashville and I see them use Kempers and Helix first hand. I hate them, and a lot of Broadway bands using that stuff are horrible. The guitar sounds overly compressed flubby garbage. Guitars are never heard in the mix or are always buried, my Boogie cuts right through and blows the doors off anywhere I play, the way it SHOULD BE. Sounds great in a mix too, and I never have to worry about being heard cuts right through. Only thing I might trade it for is a Diezel Vh4! But I still like the sound of this amp, no doubt about it, a beast for a reason.

What are you using for reverb?

The same as with vinyl LPs, some time, they nearly died out, but nowadays, there's a huge comeback, where people just want them! Same with valve amps. Some time ago, some people predicted them to die out. But yet, those still live, because they are easy to use and just give you THAT tone :)

I just got a Mesa Traditional 4x12 cab paired with a MT15, but I want a recommendation, Dual or Triple rectifier?

As an owner of both a multi-watt Dual Rectifier and a Mooer GE250, I can say that this trade isn't as bad as you think. I have my god-tier amp that I will own for the rest of my life and a pedal that can mimic this amp perfectly. Would I make the trade? Hell no, tech is constantly getting cheaper and more powerful. But a Helix for a Dual Rec really isn't a bad trade.

At 1st, I was like "why is he using low gain to demo this?"... But I think this demo really speaks well to diversity of the amplifier beyond crushing metal. It really is a very soulful am but gets easily dismissed due to the plate armour.

Now put a Blues Driver or a Wampler Tumnus set with no gain and max volume to boost the Dual Rec....you'll forget about the H&K....

Nice! I picked up two off the used market here in Victoria BC in the last few months. I found an old '90s Dual Rectifier Trem-o-Verb and a newer multi-watt head. They sounds quite different from each other, but I love them both. I used to be into use solid-state amps, then tried the modelling thing, but then I picked up a 15W tube head and remembered why I love tubes heads. A few months ago I got Two Notes Captor X and it's basically changed everything. I can run a 100W beast like this in my downtown single bedroom apartment with no issues. Heck, late at night I can even unhook the cab and play into headphones or record silently.

I had a kemper great unit but when compared to a good tube amp no contest .I have a JVM now much happier.

Great vid, thanks mate. Just to challenge the Helix as having the best user interface - I’d argue that the Headrush’s UI is significantly more user friendly, all tap, drag & drop, scroll, much more graphic, attractive, intuitive and simple.

Awesome review of the Mesa! I was wondering how the Hughes and Kettner is holding up? Been looking into them for a while now but having a hard time finding them to play in the US

Lads. this is NOT a Boogie. sounds completely different to a Boogie. The Mesa Dual Rec's were always made for massive, killer gain at the expense of depth and feel. If it ain't got 'Boogie' written on it. it ain't a Boogie.
