The Moors Murders: 60 Years On From The Case That Shocked The Nation | This Morning

Something I want to point out about Ian Brady is how he thought of himself as this sophisticated articulate guy, when in reality he was just a violent foul mouth thug with a poor control of his temper. In the begining of the Lesley Ann Downey tape he swears in a way that shows he easily lost his temper, in a story told by someone who escaped them he said Brady went into swearing and there was a time he was in a car with David Smith and had a moment of road rage.

And then there's serial killer Leonard Lake, who I don't want to glamorise in any way, but compared to Brady Lake fit the idea of a sophisticated articulate killer much more. He spoke in an intelligent and articulate way, and in Lake's videos with his victims he continued to speak in that way, he onlly swore once and it was describe a sexual act, not in anger at his victims, for the rest of the tapes he just calmly explained to the victims what would be done to them. If it was brady in that situation he'd be yelling and swearing his head off, because of the lack of control he'd have.

Also Lake was much more smarter than Brady, as when Lake was caught for having an illegal silencer and having the IDs of missing people, he knew where things were going and so took a cyanide pill while in custody immediately. Brady was stupid enough to record and photograph his crimes as well commit one in front of someone, and ultimately spent the rest of his life in prison.

So what I'm saying is that Leonard Lake is what Ian Brady thought he was.

My mother was from Leeds. She married my father who was a US soldier and he brought her to the US. She had an aunt "Sis" who she communicated with and sent us the News of the World, which when received, I confiscated it and read every story from pg 1 to the end. I followed those murders for a bit and then my mother's aunt died, so no more Newspaper. I visited my cousins in England a few yrs back and as she was driving me to Manchester to catch my plane back to the US, I took notice of the beautiful hillside, which she told me were the Moors, so I told her how I had followed that story but didn't know the ending until she told me. I never forgot my Aunt Sis, those newspapers and that creepy story.

I actually believe from looking at the evidence that it was Myra Hyndley who was the mastermind and it was Ian Brady who was the subservient one. Indeed for all his faults had Ian Brady not stupidly got his brother in law involved then many more innocent kids would have disappeared on the moors. Also what is often not said about Ian Brady is that he couldn't drive, Myra Hyndley could and she deliberately manipulated children whom she knew would trust her because they had grown up with her-that is pure evil. Also when Ian Brady was charged and convicted of murder he never appealed his conviction. Myra Hyndley did even though one of her victims was never found.
