In one sentence: there's no real reason to buy iPad over MacBook if you gonna use it more likely laptop.

Just got the M2 MacBook Air and I LOVE IT!

I bought an iPad Pro M2 only to watch YT and social media. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t get why you want MacOS on an iPad. Just buy a MacBook instead of trying to force the iPad to become a MacBook. If they added MacOS that would kill the iPad. Most people just wanna consume media and eff around on social media apps showing everyone how sexy they are or whatever.😂

I say despite its shortcomings, I think the M2 IPad Pro would be a great pick for me.

I orginally wanted a new tablet to replace my Samsung Tab S5e for media consumption and mobile gaming. However, I started learning on how effective the Apple Desktop chips can do for productivity such as photo/video editing.


I normal do all my editing on one of my window desktops PCs, however I am not a expert at the software so it takes a while for me. Having the power of the M2 chip on a tablet size form is honestly amazing for me because I can edit content on the go and can still be much faster than a regular windows desktop.

Sure the editing software on Ipad is not the full coverage of the desktop counterparts, but for simple editing for videos in YT or Tiktok, it can really make things easier for me to produce them.

Overall, I am picking up the M2 IPad Pro for my tablet replacement but also being a powerful All in One device.

I'm just waiting for a slightly bigger iPad to be released 😂 Then it'd be best for content consumption in my opinion.

I have both, and they're both excellent in different use cases but having both really works well.

Apple never wants iPad Pro as Macbook equivalent even if they have similar chips. You know it is marketing concerns. Apple wants you to buy Macbook too so they limit iPad software between an iphone and Macbook.

I have a feeling Apple may phase out MacBooks in a few generations. What the iPad is capable of is jaw dropping.

I think the question shouldn’t be can the iPad be a laptop but are laptops still necessary because the iPad can do what most people use a laptop for anyway which is videos web browsing and light gaming and it is a lot easier for those who have difficulty using a computer and I think the reason a lot of people don’t like the iPad is they try to make it a laptop instead of a really really good tablet which is what it is

Tbh the MacBook looked and sounded better in the webcam and mic comparison. The webcam quality was pretty similar, and the iPad can do some cool stuff with its Center Stage, etc., but being off to the side is… just nah. The mics were similar as well, but since the mic is actually positioned right next the the camera on the iPad, I could clearly hear with my AirPods Pro that your voice was coming from the left rather than the center. So anyone who is wearing headphones would not only see you off to the side, but hear your voice over there as well. It’s cringe for a $1000+ tablet imo

Wow the iPad speakers sound so good. And as someone who has one I can say it’s not too far behind the 14” MacBook Pro I have. But not quite there yet.
It’s just so crazy that I have a TABLET that’s faster than not only any other tablet, but 98% of laptops!

Thoughts about IPAD M2 for work related

If I could use MacOS on the iPad, I wouldn't have both devices. I wouldn't need the Mac at all.

I chose M1 iPad Pro + magic keyboard + apple pencil over Macbook back in 2021 and i never regretted. it actually is a mini laptop for me and does even more than any laptop can do thanks to apple pencil. it offers so much, i don't see a reason why would i need a macbook if i have to choose between the 2. especially for my needs.

I have the new iPad Pro 12.9 m2 1TB for everything and it’s awesome. I also have the new ipad mini for video gaming. Can’t complain.

What about now when we can use davinci on ipad

I recently bought an iPad Air M1 256gb, a Logitech combo keyboard case, and an Apple Pencil 2nd gen. With Amazon’s recent sale on iPad-related products, I got all that for $890 USD, compared to a M1 macbook air which is currently on sale on Amazon for $800. Those extra $90 got me

- the ability to easily convert my laptop into a tablet
- a touch screen in both laptop and tablet mode
- a great tool for drawing, which is something I was never good at and gave up on in high school but I’m actually having fun with again when I’ve got an Apple Pencil
- a better lap experience than my Windows laptop, since I like to sit with one leg crossed over the other and the Logitech stand works GREAT for that

Subtract the Apple Pencil if I didn’t decide I wanted to get into drawing, and the prices are equal, so it’s a choice between a bigger display or having a tablet mode.

Short answer for me, no. Because it doesn't have Logic, MainStage or 3rd party plugin support so for me in the "pro" music world, doesn't apply. It might be great for other kind of pros but not us in the music world.

When I can play a web gl game on my IPad Pro, I will really call it a PRO, seems like its not happening…..😢

iPads are better in almost every way. Touch screen, all apps run flawlessly, convertible, better screen, better speakers, and the battery lasts longer in real world use.

The only feature of iPad is the %G signal. Other than that, you are ay better off with any MacBook.

Ummm its not 50% faster at 13.25 its 28% just saying. You also showed the m2 is throttled down in the ipad so I am guessing its held back on ipad os just another observation.

I used to own an iPad Pro, but I recently bought a MacBook Air and so after about 2-3 months, I decided to sell the iPad Pro. People say that the iPad Pro and the Macbook Air shouldn't be compared because they are different categories. I would agree if you're talking about any other tablet/laptop, but with the Apple devices, they overlap so much because the MacBook is able to do a lot of things you would want to do on an iPad and vice versa these days.

I found myself slowly not using my iPad Pro at all, which after about 5 years, had slowly became relegated to a media consumption device. All the productivity tasks I used to do on it, is just better on other devices, such as my phone or now my MacBook. I also found myself barely ever taking the iPad out of the magic keyboard, which made it's use as a dual medium device redundant for me.

I also found myself loving the weight and balance of the screen of the MacBook air on my lap in bed a lot more for watching shows. As you've mentioned, the screen on the iPad is too heavy and doesn't sit as balanced on your lap.

Great video, just came here to let others know my choice and why I think for most people... a MacBook air is probably a better device.

The iPad pro comes with like 16gb of ram, so you gotta compare it with a 16gb Mac air
