ОтветитьI have that exact Fostex machine and have tried doing a few tape loops before, this vid is inspiring me to do some more and maybe turn the results into a vid for my channel. Pretty powerful stuff.
ОтветитьHi, I’m using a Uher 4000 Report and have been trying to experiment with the sound on sound technique by blocking the eraser head with a think piece of cardboard + aluminium foil. I get it all working but for some reason each time the loop goes through the volume of the recorded sound decreases until it blends into some static noise after 4-5 loops. Am I doing it wrong. I don’t want the sound to decay I want it to stay at its initially recording volume. As soon as I stop recording and play the loop I have no volume decay as you would expect. But when I’m recording layers upon layers I just can’t get a new “overdub” layer to really last more than 4-5 loops. Help please 🙏
Ответитьthank you for this video!
ОтветитьI also have the X28H, beautiful device, thank you so much for this demonstration 💫
ОтветитьFascinating technique for producing other-worldly sounds, love it!
Ответитьi can never get my tape loop on my cassette to not have a gap. Any tips are how to remedy that? Thank you
Ответитьis that means that heaving Only 2 Heads magnetofon will not do it?
ОтветитьThanks so much!!!!! I love your art
ОтветитьI have a question. I probably won’t ask it correctly but let’s say I make a cassette loop and cover the erase head and run my 4 track into ableton and record my guitar through the 4 track and record in ableton as I play, would that basically make an endless way to play through a loop and get all the spontaneous degradation without having to playback?
ОтветитьHi hainbach! I wanted to ask where you order longer Tape loops of 30sec, 1min etc. Thank u and greetings!
ОтветитьHey where did you get that thumb piano? its pretty cool
ОтветитьAGRA? Do you mean Nagra?
ОтветитьAwesome hardware. Watching this made me spent to much on ebay again
ОтветитьLovely video as always. I’m using a Tascam and although i am able to record sound on sound, i am unable to hear it back in realtime. I can only hear what has been recorded once i come out of Record mode. Am I doing something wrong or is this how the process of tape loops work? Thanks.
Ответитьthank you! but how do i clear\erase a used tape?
ОтветитьHi! If I block eraser head, how do I prevent rerecord the loop on itself. (After that 5sec circle finished)
ОтветитьNine Inch Nails use this in live performances & Recording sessions to add ambience /mood. Thank you sir
Ответитьis this safe and possible to do the alluminium technique on a partastudio 424 mkI ? im a bit affraid to break something
ОтветитьAmazing technique very useful!
ОтветитьHi, nice video! I love to loop with cassettes, in my channel you can see some video in live action with Ableton Live on a 4 channel Tascam. Regards 😃
ОтветитьHainbach you are a magician. You are a true sound Artist!
ОтветитьThanks, Hainbach. Such an inspiration. I love your passion for lo-fi sounds and the atmosphere it brings to the soundscape. Thanks again! <3
Ответитьthat kid is holding a mic worth more than my mic setup for my drums lmaooo. great video!
ОтветитьCool effects with sound on sound recording! 🙂🙂 Love that track towards the end of your video & wished there was the track on iTunes Store! 🙂🙂🔊🔊
Ответитьyou crazy for this
ОтветитьI also want a Nagra :(
ОтветитьI would cut tape at 45 degree angle for loops. Great video , always enjoy them. Cheers
ОтветитьCool!👍🏻
Ответитьgreat video, thank you! nothing beats the old tape sound. I am playing with the tascam and while the technique is easy to apply, building the actual tape loops is so frustrating. big respect to have the patience to build a good loop with regular cassettes :-)
ОтветитьCan you connect it to a laptop using an interface if so what cable to use
ОтветитьHi, i don't understand how you loop the classic tape. Can you tell me please?
ОтветитьI sincerely hope your daughters follow your lead in making music. If you make it fun for them, the hope is that they continue down that road.
ОтветитьThe End result sounds exactly like something from Black Swan's loop based 2xlp called Repetition Hymns. Great work!
ОтветитьLove all these sounds! We just finished a concept album recorded on the Tascam 488 Portastudio. It's alt-folk style music with some experimental sounds like tape loops, musical saw, synths, field recordings, etc. It's uploaded on our channel if anyone wants to check it out! Keep up the great content Hainbach!
ОтветитьSo inspiring - thank you Hainbach! 👍
ОтветитьThe Kids: speak
The Sound: creepy nightmare
The Kids: laughing
How do i know if a tape recorder is able to do this? All the ones i see look very different to yours
ОтветитьJust spent 5 hours to understand how I can play a tape loop on my Yamaha mt8x multitrack. I tried different length configuration of tape loop but each time, after 6 seconds the player it stops by itself. this happen only with a tape loop otherwise the multitrack works. it almost seems to recognize it is a tampered tape. do you know any tricks to solve?
ОтветитьPurrrrfect Accidental ASMR? Or is it 'accidental'? Or Occidental.
ОтветитьGreat experimental stuff, Hainbach, definitely a sub from me! I like the way tape degrades sound, it makes it sound more blurred. It's almost like an audio equivalent of our memories, which blur, fade and become distorted.
ОтветитьIt sounds very boards of canada at some points
ОтветитьJust ordered some loop tapes as it worked out cheaper than getting tapes... now wondering if sound on sound will work with my portastudio though- you have to select which source each track plays from- if I select guitar or line it to hear what im playing will I not hear the tape?
ОтветитьI selle my tascam 4 track seen in the background... Now I regret it
Ответитьthat child is holding a thousand dollar microphone, I am impressed by the amount of trust you have. cool video
ОтветитьIt’s good to be with you.
ОтветитьCan I do this with my Arduino mod the caste player
Ответитьthis was so cool. I can't wait to try this myself
ОтветитьSO great, do i need a special tape recorder to be able to use foil to bypass the erase head ? Seems this model made it possible or i'm wrong ?
ОтветитьThank you!
