Days Gone is a horribly optimized game, i played it and it sure as hell left a impression it isn't...even in the begging where there are no zombies and anything big happening.

I have found a use for the DDR4 variant of the 1030, It is a 20 watt card, meaning that's perfect for systems that are limited to 25 watt cards and lower, hyper budget gaming PC with a core two quad and GT-1030

The GDDR5 version is about as fast as the integrated graphics on a 5600G, and the GDDR4 version is SIGNIFICANTLY slower, so it's basically completely pointless for 3d gaming. The only thing it's really good for is a PC which just needs a GPU to be able to do video output.

Little late to the party but I was unfortunate and after accidentally buy a preowned ddr4 version, fortunately the next day I was able to get a gddr5 version, I did pay the same price for both of them $50 AUD

If their price is practically the same, then the DDR4 indeed has no reason to exist. Shops only have a limited inventory, and may not offer the choice (if you want other parameters like a big heatsink), and it is even worse on the used market with even limited selection where the worse cards are sold without a clear label. I'm impressed what this gpu can still do, and with your balanced review without elitism. The basic models give essential 3D capability for today's bloated GUIs and free video decoding in MPC-HC without spinning up the cpu fan.

I wonder what the heck was going on with GTA V, since I had better framerate at 1080P on integrated graphics....

Just threw together a test system, mostly to verify a Z590 board I bought for chump change works. For now, it has a Celeron G5900, 2 pieces of 8GB, a Team Group M.2 SSD and a DDR5 1030. I must say, with the three games I've tried, it's not quite terrible. Running at 1080 and basically everything on medium, Stray, What Remains Of Edith Finch and Classic Racers all run... usably well. Stray is slightly stuttery but not terrible. What Remains even works pretty well at 1440. Obviously these are not active games. I might give Far Cry 3 or GTA V a try and I'd expect to have to drop to 720. I must say, the passive cooler is VERY quiet!

Basically accidently bought a DDR4 Version because i desperately needed a GPU for my second pc, because the seller on ebay didnt make it all that clear that it was a DDR4 version until i looked very closely at the pictures and did some research, but i mean i cant complain yet since it was quite cheap, I've only seen benchmarks and i dont even have the card yet

I just picked up an open box GT 1030 for $92. I have 0 plans on using it for modern gaming. It's going in the living room hooked up to an older LCD TV with all the streaming apps and some retro emulators installed. I feel like I got a decent value considering 730s near me were going for around $70-80.

I just grabbed the 1030 gdrr5 version to replace my lekky slurping gtx1080p, so i could continue to eat and be warm this coming winter with the present insane lekky prices. Lol

I personally think the GT 1030 DDR4 Version is not that bad, yeah it's horrible compared to the ddr5 one but for people on a budget and wanting a first GPU to start with, I think its fine.

Silly noob question here I'm new sort of, getting back into PC building after many many years out of the game, I want to install the DDR5 version of this card, will I also need to consider upgrading my PSU?, Im leaning toward the DDR5 version just because of the fan fitted to it, I don't plan to do much heavy gaming, mostly pc strategy games but it would be nice to have, my only has a NP N6005 quad core with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, was also considering adding another 8GM of RAM, any help to my questions is much appreciated, thanks for the video 👍

I bought the gt 1030, ddr4 version for light gaming at 720p/1080p and just to display 4k res(tv monitor) for my dad's pc. we payed 115$ here in my country for this.
now its running fine at the 4k res at 30 hz which is fine and enough for my dad, but when it comes for gaming this card is very slow
and if that is not enough that we paid so much for this(36$ above msrp), now i see that the same card just with GDDR5 that cost here also the same maybe like 5$ more, is X2 times better

I bought an intelliscope prebuilt with GT 1030 i5-2400. It didn’t specify whether it was gddr5 or ddr4. I wanted to get a budget build and would’ve been completely fine with the GGDR5’s 60fps gaming but I got sent the DDR4 version and it averages between 30-40fps on gtav 1080 low/720p high.

The worst version of the GT 1030 still cock slaps the best version of the GT 710

Hey bro i just got a GT1030 but it only has a hdmi and VGA output. i think im using a standard hdmi cord but i have a 144hz monitor and the gt1030 only runs NATIVELY at 1080p 120hz even tho i have a 144hz monitor and i cant even use the GSYNC on my monitor to stop screen tearing. Will and HDMI 2.0 cord fix this ? or do i just need a gpu with a display port?

I run on a gddr4 gt1030 for 3 years now after my gtx760 burnt its brains out. I am until this day pleased on how well is still running games in 1080p like DBD, GTA V, CS:GO and WarThunder! Edit: I got it for 40€ (33.5£) in almost new condition since it was installed on a rig and then sold after 2 weeks.

They've been doing it since the days of DDR2 / 3 video cards. The GT1030 GDDR5 variants are bloody awesome cards. Such low power requirements, are small cards, which can play so many games quite nicely too. Can't go wrong.

Welp Ima either try to get a used 760, or if I can’t find something decent Ima get the ddr5 version of this 1030, I have a ps5 so triple a games I will be playing on that. But honestly to anyone reading this do you think this would be a solid card to play stuff like postal 2, Csgo, Java Minecraft and a lot of mostly esports titles and indie games. I wanna get a high end pc but these gpu prices so crazy I’m ok with a budget build.

Gosh, 80-90 Pounds... I am still happy that I bought a used XFX Radeon RX460 (4GB, passive cooling),
for about half the price, and more than a year ago!
But, have to say, surprised about the perfomance of the GDDR5 version.

I know of another video card that should not exist,
but alas is still being sold new now in December of 2021: The 4Gb GT730 which only has 96 cuda cores, compared t the 384 cuda cores of the 2Gb version of the GT730. A real ripoff.

I bought a used 1030 with GDDR5 this week. I almost got the DDR4 version. Since I didn't know that there are two versions of the 1030. It replaces my 1070! 😧 Since I don't actually play video games anymore. No more interest except in 2D retro games. And the 1070 used is currently 300-400 €. I paid 50 € for the 1030.

Holy shit this is worse than even you think! See, I knew there was a good and a bad one and while I bought mine with other main concerns in mind... I have literally the same MSI you have there, except it's GDDR5 (box and gpuz agree)! That's beyond easy to fuck up while shopping.
