I love the fault in our stars
Ответить"I think it says a lot about American history that in the end, the war's outcome was ensured not just by military victories, but by a political one."
I love all Crash Course history videos, but I have so much trouble reading this sentence as something else than American exceptionalism and "only we have democracy" sort of deal.
Jefferson Davis was a democrat.
Ответитьalright, so, can I just say that this person who mailed her boyfriend a dress because he would go to war is an awful person.
ОтветитьJohn, I felt your victory today, as I guessed the author of the mystery document for the second time ever!
Ответить42%
Ответитьomg cactuar
ОтветитьKen Burns?? Really?? I thought you said there were going to be NO jokes.....😐
ОтветитьSouthern soldiers fought for slavery. Read their journals.
ОтветитьWasn't the Civil War also caused by the secession of some Southern states?
Ответитьlove the mountain goats shirt
ОтветитьMORRILL TARIFF caused the war.
ОтветитьLeave it to Americans to destroy Americans better than any country in the world combined
ОтветитьAnyone else just watching this because it's interesting and moderately entertaining, not to mention pretty accurate?
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьListening to crash course as I work out was the best decision I’ve made all day. Thanks Crash Courae!
ОтветитьAll separation documents from the confederate states say they were leaving because of slavery
Ответить👍🏼
ОтветитьI love that he makes the videos interesting but... I can't remember anything he talks way too fast I really wish that you had certain questions to see if we remember it and stuff like that but I kinda wish you talked a little slower other than that your amazing 🤩😂 ty for keeping me alive in history and helping me study 😊✨
Ответитьthe mountain goats shirt...
ОтветитьThe Civil War was about States' Rights... to own slaves. Slavery was, in every single way, responsible for the bloodiest conflict in American history.
ОтветитьLove 🐀
ОтветитьGreat break down of the civil war
ОтветитьI enjoyed Part 1 of the Civil War episodes. I am finding it hard to get to subsequent videos on my TV/Android Box set up. It would be nice if it just autoplayed the next episode in the series.
I got the quote being Grant btw!
Hi
ОтветитьJhj
ОтветитьI like his Mountain Goats shirt.
Ответитьso Basically 70% of Southerners died or got amputated for literally nothing
ОтветитьLee was more of a butcher than Grant
ОтветитьIt is overly simplified to say that the war was about slavery. It was not. Even your quote of Lincoln exposes that the war was not all about slavery Slavery was a part of the war, but not the reason for the war.
ОтветитьHappy Juneteenth!!
ОтветитьHey any Asian going through this video in July 2020?
ОтветитьHead to head, Grant inflicted more casualties upon Lee’s forces than Lee inflicted on Grant’s forces. Grant was a better General than Lee, as Grant knew how to successfully launch an invasion (Siege of Vicksburg, Petersburg, Richmond, etc.) Lee’s two invasions into the United States were unsuccessful by any measure. Grant’s generals who served under him were at least as good as any of the rebel generals. To simply say that the Rebels had better generals than the United States is simply wrong. Can it be said that particular generals weren’t as good as others (I.e. Lee was better than Pope)? Yes. Definitely.
ОтветитьSouthern rebels knew, according to their written correspondence, that they were fighting to preserve the institution of slavery. Sure, the rhetoric was typically, “We are fighting for our rights!” ...but they knew that they fought for the right to preserve slavery, the foundation of their economy.
ОтветитьMy only comment is that 1860 upper Canada was trying to convince the maritime provinces to join the dominion and they rejected it because it meant a loss of sovereignty.
In fact eastern "Canada" supported the south BECAUSE it feared it's loss of sovereignty.
My guess is that was the root cause - the south didn't want to join the north because it meant a loss of its own governance.
Well Abraham lincoln did suffer from depression. So in some ways he did have a battle against himself.
ОтветитьWhat was an easy question
Ответитьwho else is hear because of George Floyd?
Ответить"Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of those trees". I know he wanted to own slaves, but those are some comforting last words.
ОтветитьThat man General Grant was 🐐 before MJ
Ответитьwow .this guy is an idiot!!!
ОтветитьSo why do you contradict yourself about the war being about slavery when you claim that even Lincoln wanted to downay it in the early days?
Ответить
