What if shipping companies like MSC be all legally forced to install high resolution multiple infrared security cameras at the 4 corners of every ship? Such cameras can be made a legal requirement of all ships, and the captain be made the custodian of the recordings, which are ready to be inspected by police and port authorities... What is so difficult about this???

1.5% containers scanned :)

They need to use AI and computer vision to aid them when scanning the containers. An AI program could be trained to detect suspicious packages on the scan. Rather than scanning only 1.5% of the containers, 100% could be scanned and analyzed rapidly by the software.

Could they not mount some form of x ray device that scans the container- to the lift of the cranes when moved from the exiting port to ship, and ship to arrival port?
Taking x-rays images to overlay
Maybe include some A.I that can detect differences between the images and flag them for human inspection?

It would be nice if you make a video about the way MSC grew so quickly in the eighties and nineties. Never saw a shipping company expand and grow so quickly in such a little time.

Whole battle concept against law enforcement vs drug smugglers is wrong…
Final destination of drug it self is drugs consumers, also they are very easy to capture/recognise….
The problem is that in whole western part of the world, drugs consumers get low or no prison sentences for using drugs it self…. After, once drug abuser became desperate for drugs they start committing crimes and similar, still once they are caught sentices are low(unless in case of fatalities)….
My main point is, that government should change constitution about illegal drug possession… and penalties should be strictly for minimum of 7 years in prison, and from there we could start expecting less drug abusers. Also, period of 7 years behind a bars could save person from drug addiction, depending how deep that person is stuck with abuse.
Less drug abusers mean less drug trafficking, less crimes on the street and more peace to neighbours…
For example check crime rate in Saudi Arabia, almost none. Why??, answer is very simple: high rate sentences even for small offences, for drug abuse I think it’s like minimum 8-15 years….
For the safe of future generations, something drastic must be done asap, because at the moment 12 year old school boys can go around a corner of the school and by any drugs they want to…. And talking globally, especially usa, canada, whole Europe….

There is no way on earth MSC was unaware of what was going on on their vessels.
These companies have always been the willful enablers for the right amount of money.

On the flip side though, I think it is fair to say that to an extend, they are not responsible to confront traffickers. I do understand that once you get involved in this sort of business, they will make an offer you won’t be able to refuse.

As long as something is ILLEGAL and 20 percent of the population uses them, they will never be able to stop it. There is just too much money involved for an average person to not risk it. People are going to do what they want if it's illegal or not. When has that ever stopped making money?

I was a trafficker in North America for five years. Seizing a vessel has zero impact on the supply, demand, and distribution of contraband. The U.S. authorities want their cut just like others want their cut. Period. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
