Sweet. The Lock Master used to throw a monkey fist down to us so he could retrieve our tow boat deck lines when we’d make a lock on the Mississippi River. Now I’ll know how to make a monkey fist.
ОтветитьThanks for this video. Very useful to have one without tools. I followed this to make my first Monkey’s First, a dog toy, using a 9-ball sized rubber ball, and 11 wraps. Took me quite a few goes, and my fingers ached, but finally got there.
ОтветитьOi eu sou brasileiro
ОтветитьImpact tool😂
ОтветитьI just learned of this device about 10 minutes ago--this video is very cool. I looked at some knot sights, but you really make it look simple.
ОтветитьPeople are always mentioning these are illegal, we already know, stop being a shill for your government, it's just sad brown nosing.
Ответитьi made these as souvenirs for best sailors of my sailng class camp. they were very happy.
ОтветитьIve heard they were commonly thrown at a person's face really hard for the initial attack, and the retracted back to be swung or thrown again. Flicked out fast it could catch a person off guard even when out of range of fists or a knife.
ОтветитьIt was w while back, and I don’t remember who posted it, but there is a way to make a monkey’s fist where both cords come out at the same spot
ОтветитьHey man I thought youd like to know, I came across this video by chance, never thought of anything like this, but i had a 1 inch christal ball and a length of cord. It too me 7 attempts but I'm so happy with my resulttoday so thank you for showing me a new craft immvery apreciative of your videos Mr stranger and I will watch many many more and make some really cool thinks. Do you hqve social media
ОтветитьWhat thickness of chord would you reccomend I've seen different sizes in mm
ОтветитьSuccess. Of course I had to do the tightening forever because I lost my place.. Started over lol.
ОтветитьI made a monkey fist with 1,3 inch lead ball atached to 4mm steel wire from car hand brake sistem.the whole thing is almost 1m long and it make very big dent in plywood board..
ОтветитьAfter 3 tries I can do it without watching the vid now, thank you. Although it is harder ( maybe easier with a jig) I think doing 6 passes makes bearing more secure in there
ОтветитьI'm using 7ft 4 inches of 550 cord and I don't have anywhere near the amount I need leftover to make the handle you did? I'm using a one inch steel ball.
ОтветитьI'm going to do this right now. Looking for a "hobby" to keep my hands busy while talking to my wife (she knits, why can't I weave)
Thanks!
Great video very helpful👍
ОтветитьCould you put a steel cable, wrapped in paracord in as a handle on it?
I think that`s what the salors used when they were on land.
Although i think it was from the 1800s or earlyer so they probably used something else.
Do you know how many times you can use this monkey fist????
ОтветитьWhere do you get the ball bearings?
Ответитьhow i know length of paracord that i need?
ОтветитьI’m going to make one with a golf ball inside. It’s the perfect keychain size that fits in your pocket.
ОтветитьDid you know this is a forbidden weapon in germany?
As published in the Federal Gazette, the Weapons Act prohibits the possession and carrying of a monkey fist weighted with metal balls, for example, as it is classified as a manslaughter weapon by the Federal Criminal Police Office.
With the somewhat overzealous UK laws I just made one using a 30mm cork ball instead of a steel ball. Had to make six passes instead of five because of the larger circumference of the cork ball. Turned out beautifully. Thank you for posting this this jig-less instruction!
ОтветитьI have the 7 Bight 1 1/2 version of your Easy Assist Mandrel, How do I set up the pins to do a 5 Bight? Or do I need to buy the proper smaller Mandrel?
ОтветитьWhat kind of lighter is the one you use?
ОтветитьHay there dope as hell do you sell them ??
Ответитьhey can i please make a request for a bowling ball sledgehammer type impact tool? It would require thick braids that im unfamiliar with tying.
ОтветитьOne can use a scented wooden ball
ОтветитьIs there a good way to "paracord" my powerbank?
ОтветитьImportant note for anyone intending to use one of these as a weapon….. Most all state statutes classify a “slung shot” as a prohibited weapon to carry. A monkey’s fist is exactly what is meant by a slung shot… A “shot” in this case originally meant a naval round of “canister” or “grapeshot” meant to be fired from cannon. They were commonly made up and used by sailors… As weapons.
ОтветитьWonderful, so creative.
I am new in paracord art.
1.
How many type of paracord 550 ( 4mm )?
Or they just one type with different brand?
2.
What brand of this paracord 550 that you are using for this monkey fist?
3.
And also what brand of 550 that you normally string your Begleri?
Thank you.
👌🏼🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьAfter a couple minutes of 'Google' research, I found that most ball bearings are “case hardened”, allowing the core to retain elasticity under load. Using a pair of vise-grips or a vice, you could grind a small flat spot onto the ball bearing. Clamping it into a drill press vice, you could (slowly) drill a 3/16" hole through the ball bearing - and then drill a 1/4" - 5/16" hole about halfway though.
Your impact tool could then be simply suspended by a single length of paracord - thereby eliminating the need to wrap the ball in a monkey-fist knot... When you're done, it would be kinda like 'half' a set of Begleri beads - and you would be able to strike much harder surfaces with the bare steel ball without the worry of damaging the Monkey Fist.
Wondering (also) if the 1" bearing was heated to red hot with a propane torch and then allowed to air-cool, it would then be 'annealed' - making it softer and easier to drill through. Then, after all the drilling, de-burring and chamfering were completed, it could then be heated to red-hot again and quickly quenched to again harden the steel.
The different colors you could obtain on the ball itself from heating and quenching might make a good contrast of colors with different colors of paracord. You could also use larger diameter paracord for the lanyard.
I also wonder - although not recommended because of safety issues - You could actually make them into an abnormally large set of Begleri Beads and play with them like vintage 'Clackers'.
Anyway - Those are 'my' BB-In-A-Can runaway thoughts after watching this recent content - Thank you, for sharing! 👊
Im going to search your videos for pulling slack in the monkey fist , its my most challenging issue
ОтветитьI'm like, just drill a hole in the ball and pass a string through and tie a knot Ave be done with it 😂
Added advantage: exposed metal surface, which is harder
I made one with 2 steel rings
ОтветитьFirst time i saw monkey fist was on ship ,a small rope is attached to it and you throw it overboard ,a guy catches it and pulls a big rope that is attached to a small one . Its used that way because it would be clumsy to throw big rope especially if it has steel cable in it.
ОтветитьAnother variation on the sailors lifesaver/multitool. Well done. Thanks. BTW, I like the production value of your videos.
ОтветитьGreat video bud keep em coming. Stay safe and be well brother. Strength and Honor... 👊 🤙 🍻
ОтветитьI did it, it came out great. Thanks for another tutorial video!
ОтветитьVery nice 👌 👍 👏 😀
ОтветитьDo you know of a good place to get those ball bearings? I'm having a hard time finding them
Ответить💕👍
ОтветитьThat was so intricate. I loved it. Thank you. For sharing. Yeah make sure to stay safe.
ОтветитьIs it illegal in any state to have one. I read it’s a weapon and illegal in some states.
ОтветитьLove this tutorial ! TY @ Weavers 🙂
ОтветитьVery cool! Always amazed to watch your vids.
ОтветитьAwesome video
ОтветитьA YOOOOOOOO 🤘🏻 💀 🤘🏻
