How To Keep A Cruise Ship Cabin Organized

How many bags do you normally take in a 5+ day cruise?

When you get off at a destination to you bring your passport with you or do you leave it in the safe in the ship? Not sure what is proper to do.

Duct tape is really smart to bring for the reasons you mentioned. I had never heard that suggestion or considered that. Thanks for sharing!

I am like you Crystal, I cannot stand clutter. I really do wish that the cruise companies would cut back on all of the papers in the cabins, I don't even look at most of them and they go directly into recycling. It seems like such a waste. I did love the Holland America app for checking out the day's events. That was such a nice shower, probably the nicest I have ever had on a cruise ship. I agree, the sink was too small. I'm already having cruise withdrawl and looking at booking the SKY Princess for the spring. xo Cathy

Hi Crystal, we are going on an Alaskan Cruise next week on Holland America's Oosterdam. It's my first cruise. I hear they don't have irons in the room, do you know if hand held steamers are allowed on cruise ships?

This was great to see - thank you for sharing :) We are going on the new Royal Carribean ship on 20 May so very excited - it is only our 2nd cruise - the other was on Princess. This time we are flying from Australia to Singapore to board the ship - very exciting :) I wanted to ask you if you bring a hairdryer with you or do you find the one they supply to be ok?

Organization can be a big help. Our first cruise there were 3 adults and 2 kids in the room. Some cruise lines don’t even allow you to do the over the door organizers because they damage the door.

We just came home from cruising on the Norwegian Breakaway. My favorite way for organizing paper clutter came from the dollar tree. I bought one big heavy duty magnet clip for all of our daily newsletters and then several smaller magnet clips for shore excursion tickets, a printed calendar of our schedule, etc. That way they are up on the walls & out if the way. I also used magnet hooks to hang hats, my crossbody bag, and my everyday jacket.

The cabins (even interior) always have a surprising amount of storage space, so we do the same and unpack everything and put suitcases under the bed. The paper clutter drives me nuts too so I'm constantly weeding through it all. That shower looks incredible; but I agree with you on the shower storage...of all the things and after all these years, they can't figure out to put another little shelf in the shower! Every. single. ship. it's one tiny shelf, lol. Enjoyed the video!

I am laughing at myself, LOL. As soon as you mentioned the candies they leave on your pillows at turn down, I got distracted, LOL. I miss that so much. I haven’t had chocolate at turn down in over 15 years. So I watch the entire video being jealous of your turn down candy, LOL. But, great video, great advice… Thanks so much!

I bring those small pop up hampers for dirty clothes. They can go into the closet with life vests. Use the drawers and store luggage under the bed.

Hey Crystal! This was fun, I will probably never go on a cruise again because John doesn’t like them, but this was interesting! We did a Norwegian Cruise Line Cruise and our room was tiny! Lol, this was like the Love Boat compared to ours! 🛳 ❤️ Lisa

I think the most helpful thing is to not overpack and bring things that can mix and match and stick to one color family. Vacations are more fun in an organized environment. This weekend my husband, son and I are flying to Barcelona, staying a few days then flying to Sevilla. We will fly back to Barcelona and rent a car so we can take some road trips then return to Barcelona and fly home! We will stay in 4 different hotels so I really need to be organized. I really admire how organized you are and it inspires me to stay on top of things.

I usually have a messy cabin but I don't care. I'm on vacation! I took my granddaughter on her first cruise when she was 12. We really had a messy cabin but we just filmed it & had a good laugh. I am neat at home & hate paper work around. Love your videos though..

We just got back from a HAL cruise. We have cruised maybe 10 times. We are exactly the same way. We want to unpack and get organized right away--that's when vacation begins for me. We like to keep our room tidy. I feel sorry for the room attendants that have guest rooms that are so cluttered and a mess. Plus that would stress me out and I don't want to be stressed on vacation!
