The 2023 Genesis G80 Electrified Is A Very Good Low-Key Electric Luxury Sedan

Happy Monday everyone! Just wanted to let you know, Genesis has announced final pricing for this car, it starts at $80,920 including destination. The car in the video had just one option, the $1500 matte white paint finish. Sadly, it no longer qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit due to being produced in Korea and having an MSRP over the $55,000 cap. This now makes this car about $8,000 more than the 3.5T V6. Would you guys still go for the electrified version over the gas V6?

i love that genesis didnt put any electrifed or EV badging, no green or blue ev colors on this car. i just want a vehicle, i dont want to make an environmental statement

Why cant more automakers make electric cars that just blend in with everything on the road to the point where you can’t even tell it is electric? Not everything has to be concepty and futuristic looking. Just make it look normal, more people would buy them. Great job Genesis!

I will be moving away from many years of leasing the Lexus ES Ultra Luxury models (current 2021 model lease will end in February), and moving 'up' to the 2024 g80 EV (Uyuni White with Brown interior). I have zero complaints about my Lexus cars, but now, Lexus has taken away the ability to control the navigation screen with a console control. I do not personally wish to be restricted to touch screen only, and the ES models are not EVs. I must say I am looking forward to the switch!!

This is cool but people in the comments justifying $80k just so they can save on gas and maintenance is hilarious. $25k hybrid, either toyota or honda allows you to get 450mi for less than $40 even in FJB prices.

As a driver of a gas powered Genesis I was ready to buy one of these but the lack of panoramic roof stopped me. I'm not about to pay that much for a car without roof window. Bad decision by Hyundai...

Wow I'm seriously impressed. I didn't catch this elect model release and I can't believe the charge time, range to cost, compared to gas is about 1/8 the cost. I want one BAD now. I was wanting a Tesla but build quality has me shopping other brands. Any other models out there that can charge up as much range this quickly? Comments appreciated.

I know nothing about electric cars, but is there a service period for this car, just say every year or every two years?

My 2022 Acura MDX I got in April of 2021 has the wireless carplay which is one of the main features I was looking for. Hopefully Genesis will have it in future models.

I drove Tesla Model S, Y, and 3. I had the opportunity to ride Ford Mustand EV, Nissan Ariya, and VW ID4. All EVs are performance-oriented rides, whether SUV, Coup or Sedan. The G80 EV sedan has a soft, cushioned, comfy, classic luxury, and silky ride. I had a test ride. And it is very silent inside the cabin compared to other EVs, even speed of 65 mph. That's what EV should be. I'm not too fond of computer-produced EV sounds that other brands offer. I cannot afford Rolls Royce or Mercedes-Maybach sedans. But with the price of $80K, I would love to drive a G80 EV for the everyday ride. Thank you, Hyundai/Genesis. Well done! PS: Colorful Ambient lights inside would be lovely... I hope you will add them.

What a handsome & gem of a car. I love how there are no EV markings. But in my state we get special EV plates so I guess that would give it away.

An EV drivetrain is a smart move for Genesis. Hyundai ICE engines just aren't as durable as Toyota or Honda.

I'll stick with normal hybrid vehicles.

They may need to come out with a higher "horsepower" model. People like their electric cars really fast...The fact that you can't Bluetooth your phone to the radio seems really bizarre. Never heard if that on a new luxury car. My new GM Sierra even has it...my Denali from 2015 had it even.

Ok, so if I plan on saving the earth, I have to get my Genesis BEFORE 2030. Got it. Electric has a huge carbon footprint, larger than the cars it will replace. Not to mention, that the price for charging the car is SOOOOOO much higher than gas, and to have to stop for an hour every couple hours of driving is gonna make you go mad, especially when there are people in front of you charging their cars which will happen somewhere between 99 and 100 percent of the time.
