As always, the right-winger (Fascist) here ignores facts and continues to parrot their ideological, counter-factual BS.

Globalism only works with heavily subsidized transportation. Cheap gas, roads, trucks, etc destroy the balance of power needed for true free trade.

Sorry, I am Liberal and pro union, but no neoliberal but Protectionist trade policies may be popular (populist) but won't bring jobs back any more than stopping Japanese cars from selling in the US will. China was and is third world nation and has cheap labor. Hamilton's plan for a New America and Chen's plan for a New China works and the loss of jobs is not just off shoring but change in all sorts of things like automation and supply chains. We want cheap goods in the market for standard of living. The Reaganomics pushed the money to the top and lack of Unions kept the bottom down but international trade leads to increase productivity and higher wages. Sorry your economcs is not correct.

FREE TRADE RUINED US.We gave our Wealth to China. Nixon and Reagan ruined it. Clinton also carried the torch to please them and they still despised him. What a waste.

Between Nixon opening up China and giving away our jobs ( free trade) , and Reagan creating homelessness and mass shootings with his defunding and dismantling of the major mental health care hospitals for every state, these two men especially Reagan rigged the system so it could never work the way it was supposed to where the wealth went in a circle that made many rich people happen. A huge middle-class Reagan shook the piggy bank and spilled it out into the streets. Trickle-down the economy they called it and they should take responsibility for the massive homeless and mass shooting that exist today. Big Government works it keeps us all safe and the middle class robust, and the poor enough money to pull themselves up. For republicans who care so much about spending they sure do spend a lot.

The demise of the middle class has come about because the unions, through their unrealistic demands, caused hundreds of major companies to move their manufacturing plants abroad, with the loss of millions of good-paying jobs. The situation has been exasperated by Biden and his handlers opening the border to millions of illiterate, unskilled migrants who have poured into America, and by Congress running up the national debt to $31 trillion, or is ot $32 trillion?

Good points by all. Thom needs to address Robbie’s questions and points directly instead of avoiding them to better push his points. Especially obvious when Robbie asked about specific ways we can bolster our business sector by derestricting domestic businesses in ways that will make it cheaper for them

The right blames workers for driving jobs to China, when in reality, China wouldn't have been able to pull it off without US corporations investing and supporting the move. Low price goods are a sorry substitute for a good paying job. We were conned.

Privartization has been a scam to allow the rich to buy ownership of public services and cut wages and benefits of those who do the work. It has not saved money nor made services better. It simply helped transfer more wealth to the rich.

Toms plan only works if we have wars, the Great Depression lasted over 10 years and only ended with ww2, now we are in another war, saw the union bankrupt companies and decimate our pension funds, corruption comes with power.

The Problem is now, the American government is being controlled by the rich and the government has no say to its citizens. Americans have no solution they merely acknowledge their boat is sinking. Only, doomsday awaits. Soon you will become like Rome. The only reason for the sinking boat is because the US has forsaken its foundation that is built on Christian Faith. The Sin City is in the US, they have done things that are an abomination to God. Repent and you will be restored lest you become once the mighty Empire of Rome.

"Neoliberalism" is an unnecessary ism. It is a new name for something old in the US, going back to the writing of the Constitution. The condition was relieved for about a decade during the FDR administration, when out of fear of the Communist and Socialist Parties labor unions were aloud to strengthen and social reforms were enacted. With the end of WW2, in 1947 the Taft Hartley Act was passed, the rise of unions was curbed. By the time of Ronald Reagan and his crushing ot the Air Traffic Controllers' union, the working-class's day was over. The country had been returned to the wealthy imperialists of the 19th and early 20th centuries. "Neoliberalism" is just their rule.

Robbie like most neoliberal “libertarians” refuse to read what Adam Smith actually wrote, for example he was against monopolies, joint-stock companies, landlords and passive wealth creation. They refuse to read what Jefferson wrote protectionism and anti-monopoly and self sufficient opportunities.

And instead naively believe in Hayek, Misis, and Friedman whose real job was to create oligarchy. Perhaps a diverse oligarchy at best, meaning multiple players but it is still oligarchy, and that is only in theory in reality you get what Hartmann describes here.

I hope for the day when Reagan is viewed as a traitor to the country and not a hero.

Basically US politicians and corporations couldn't care less about Americans. Corruption, lying, stealing, cheating, stabbing your fellow American in the back for money is the new American society or mode of operation. This is the reason the US looks to be falling apart. American politicians are supposed to care about and for Americans, not undermine them while helping corporations and the rich.
