ESPECIALLY with the bundle based monetization splinters need to come back if we’re being honest, and like aside from enabling perks if BHVR is really that scared of people only using them, just make them Iri offerings or have a max amount of 5 or something, and with the comment of “would companies even LET BHVR do licensed splinters” it works as a great PR move: I know I’d be hyped to see “Pinhead joining splinters next midchapter!” It could seriously allow a recoup of bad reception or just allow a greater desire TO buy since the choice is there at all

Splinters now more than ever need to return.
Their reason for removing them was so dum in the first place, just cuz you can earn things for free.
It can take SO LONG to get ONE character, it would be fantastic to get to try one before having to use up your several hours of currency.

You use the Doctor example and thats outright misleading. You can still simply obtain the Doctor with shards or auric cells. I came from your failed esports video and thought youre a good content creator Id subscribe to, but youre misleading and creating fake outrage over optional bundle packs. Either start the video with "although you can still purchase individual killers/survivors with FREE to earn blood shard or buy auric cells the direct purchase bundles are changing or quit trying to gas light us. As much as I'd like to see Splinter offerings come back, I don't see that happening especially with how matchmaking works now. Remember, back then you could switch your Killer on the lobby screen. While the lobby change happened after Deathslinger's release, it really makes it awkward to try and shoehorn a "try before you buy" offering into how the game is set up now.

I'd be perfectly fine if they moved that option into the KYF section. You can always "try" with bots and get a good taste of the perks and add-ons too and see if you want to buy them still.

I don't pay for anything anymore because you get ripped off and stolen from when they nerfed it into the ground but they sure don't mind leaving it good for the first few months or weeks to get a bunch of people to buy it or they just nerf it down the line

It's DBD They put more effort into avoiding putting effort into the game literally gameplay of solo queue was proof for the recent years😂... The game is gone from just squeezing money to just squeezing and wasting as much of your time as possible cuz let's face it this s*** ain't what it used to be and it wasn't fun even at its most enjoyable for both sides literally just a boring version of hide and seek or if killer has better perks you're screwed is survivor's cheat and have a squad and have a full set up they have a high chance of winning in your most likely screwed

I just don't like how dbd is a paid game with heavy free to play micros. It's what puts me off about the whole game. Especially after buying it for 30 us dollars on three different accts and consoles.

They could've at least equip the original perks for the characters, so you could actually have a chance to play it.
But I think DBD mobile trial looks better. Get some sort of code or pass that is hard to get, but you can use to play as a killer for 7 days before expiring.

We kinda forget that DBD wasnt ever a free to play game, you HAVE to pay for the access and the behaviour learned from other greedy corporations that its "ok to demand more even if you already asked enough"

Wasn’t there an issue where cheaters would equip these whilst playing as survivors making the killer pretty much play as the splinters killer with no perks and addons because the game couldn’t figure out that a survivor used the offering?

i basically knew this would be about splinters from the title but the first few minutes of the video being just doom and gloom about BHVR actually FINALLY doing anything to improve the way the DLCs work is very frustrating, hearing people constantly complain about the monetization strategies just to complain when they finally improve it. you can literally just get the character from the in game store for $2.50 if you only want doctor which is a significant improvement, the in game store is being massively improved alongside options for people who DO want all the characters. there is not a downside. sidenote about how wrong you are about people likely not wanting ace, there are so many ace players.

I can’t believe I forgot about splinter offerings. I remember I had one on Myers for Bubba and at the end of the match someone said they were surprised to see a splinter offering because they thought it was a mori since splinter offerings were secret ones.

i think honestly just letting you try the killer something like 3 times before you buy, with all 3 of their perks on and one you have unlocked/maybe any one unlocked.

It would allow people to try the killer with any build and truly wanna buy the dlcs just so they can build it.

Instead if bringing back splinters, they should bring the tickets from mobile so you can actually use addons and perks from them

The correct solution is to keep the individual packages on the Steam store, along with the bundles, while also remembering that they're available in store as standalone 5 dollar purchases per character.

Not my place to judge or question how or why people purchase their characters, but providing all forms of options is fine unless it makes the purchasing experience confusing. (Like MMO expansions can be confusing to purchase, or some store fronts being difficult to navigate.)

BHVR stated that the characters in the bundles will still be available for Iridescent Shards and Auric cells, and will be permanently half off.

I see hag and clown way more than I see any other killer besides wraith and chucky. Safe to say people prefer clown over doctor.

If I could recall splinters were removed because of an exploit that allowed for infinite splinters.

I remember back when I first joined DBD soon after Michael Myers' release and used the black splinter to try him out and I honestly it was a pretty nice feature but I understand why it got removed. I swear old DBD in 2016-2019 era was such a fever dream lol

One thing to mention. You didn't technically start "without perks", you just started with perks that were equipped on a character the Splinter would turn you into. And since you are most likely do not own the character, it's uncustomised, so no perks equipped.
However, if you used a Splinter of a character you already owned, the game would start with the loadout of the character you turned into, rather than the loadout of the character you used a splinter with.

There is a reason why the licensed chapters cost money. They cannot have them in the game without. All licenses need payment and not a one time payment at that, which means they can’t keep giving free dlc’s because it makes it impossible for them to have licenses. Also the splinters where really buggy, not effective due to what you said about the perks and addons, and if they where to keep them in they would need to add another one every single dlc released which is a lot of work not to mention the problems with the spagheti code.

The problem with the bundles as some people voiced their concerns in steam, is that if you already own some of the things in the bundle, it wont detrack them from the price and you will essentially buy them again.
