Thanks for the video!
ОтветитьGood for gaming?
ОтветитьHow did I not find this earlier? This is EXACTLY what I need right now. This video's 5 years old and I only just discovered this now because of a video about Insignia restoring Xbox Live 1.0 for the OG Xbox and emulators alike?!
ОтветитьMy house is from 1910. I assume this won't work?
ОтветитьSo if I buy a powerline adapter and my own wireless router, can I have free internet without the cable company or do I still need an ISP?
ОтветитьThere is still a loss compared to just running a cable. But I use them and they saved me a lot of DIY.
ОтветитьI did not know this. This sounds a lot like HART that we use in industrial communications
ОтветитьIm on a tp link ac adapter and its worked before but now i can only get onto my browser i cant launch anything else that needs internet its so infuriating.
ОтветитьI can't recommend this technology enough. Super easy to use. Beats the hassle of trying to manually run cables all over a house. I've had no regrets since getting one. Thank you Linus!
ОтветитьWhat about the extra dirty electricity this would put on the wire?
Ответитьis powerline ethernet faster than the cable ethernet? are the powerline also transmits wifi? will appreciate a reply from you guys.
ОтветитьI live in very rural Minnesota. I am only starting with 3 mbps to 12 mbps. I need wifi in my shop that is 287 feet away. Will this even work no matter what brand I buy?
ОтветитьI can't live without my powerline anywhere I live.
Ответитьoh back when Linus is clean shaved.
ОтветитьFuture 3 phases timer base computer system and recorder use less data so data over power line and appliance smart device all may function independent and community only little data and integrate operations
Ответитьwhat if I want to connect ethernet across an electrical substation?
ОтветитьUnfortunately, having Ethernet sockets is not common practice anymore (There was a sweet spot ~10-20 years ago when Wi-Fi still was very slow, but the Internet was already very useful). Today, everyone is just thinking Wi-Fi will just work. If I built a new house/flat, I would at least put CAT6/7 cables in every corner of every room, even when not adding sockets everywhere. Those cables can be used for all sorts of stuff later on, e.g. for wiring HDMI over them or DSL if necessary, or one I also used for RS485 to read out my smart power meter or to install a smart home bus. Unfortunately, that was not the case in my home (at least not everywhere), so I also had to use PowerLink to get a reasonable network connection to my living room.
ОтветитьI was wondering if it would go through electrical panels. Now I want to know "how well"?
My neighborhood is a "bare land strata", meaning we have 15 detached homes, all having private back yards but from the front door out is common area. The area is half a city block and I have been looking for a way to set up a security system.
I am going buy a pair and do some testing to see if the signal will pass through from one home to the next, since we are all on the same electrical hub. Crossing my fingers!
My phone gets about 300mbps from the far side of our apartment from our router yet my Xbox Series S only ever goes as high as 170mbps. Doesnt make sense especially since my phone is older than my Xbox and has a pretty lame chipset. I dont understand why it does this and sometimes it even dips down to 80mbps and stays for a few minutes. My internet provider does not throttle. I hope something like a powerline ethernet adapter will work.
Ответитьlinus' smugness (not to mention how he treats his employees and wife) is so annoying
ОтветитьCan I plug in my work from home PC to one of these adapters? It is in another room from the router and right now I have a 50ft Ethernet cable across my house so I can use the internet! Help!!! :)
Ответить200mb thats crap i can get 1,3GB with a wifi 6 router and 1 mesh satalite. Thatd it and i can full gigabit speed using the satellites ethernet
ОтветитьSo I recently got a power line adapter kit just to test and mess around with, fortunately I live in a newer apartment where most rooms have cat5e Ethernet so I didn’t really have a need for this device. I plugged one end into my router and in the wall and the other into a wall outlet in my floor hallway, surprisingly it worked, I tried this with the 4th floor (we live on the fifth floor) and was still able to get a decent connection, I went down to the 3rd floor and still got a connection! I was amazed of the range of the adapters, I lost connection when reaching the mezzanine (2nd) floor, but still, great product!
Edit 1: a great use case could be IP security cameras, they don’t need much bandwidth and could work great with these adaptors!
Thanks for the video it really helped me
ОтветитьLmao I think Linus would cringe to himself now. Still, an incredible presenter in each era.
ОтветитьMe reacting to the surfer Linus bit. 😐
ОтветитьAfter this vid. I know more about the suitcases than the powerline adapter.
ОтветитьIn the UK and Europe you must connect the adapters to the same phase. As a retired BT Engineer who works freelance this can happen in commercial premises.
ОтветитьThis guy knows everything man
ОтветитьI think I speak for everyone when I say you need to move on from tech stuff to just being a full time actor.
Ответитьi just bought 1 recently with 1 gigabit/s.
i ended up having 0.75 mb/s and 120 ping on my pc.
and THEN i see this old video in my recommended
thanks linus
ОтветитьBought a powerline kit recently and surprised how good it was, breaker box joining garage, extension sockets no problem. The point Linus mentioned about neighbours using your powerline connection is a non-issue as you have to pair it by pressing a button first, so it is a secure connection between the sockets.
ОтветитьInstalled fiber today from 100Mbps to 1000Mbps my Powerline is still stuck at 30mbps lmao
ОтветитьWifi works the same way as a wife, the only difference in the words are the vowels at the end. 🧐
ОтветитьI have gigabit internet but get terrible speeds from tp link power line and is also drops completely sometimes. I only get like 10-20mb speeds with the tp link.
ОтветитьI really love this solution. I solved a great problem with this simple modem.
ОтветитьWonder why this never took off
ОтветитьIt's nearly impossible for me to run an ethernet through my house because of the range, the powerline adapter helped me for ages but lately i've been getting so much latency that its impossible for me to play any games
ОтветитьCan the speed be limited by having poor connection in your area if that makes sense.
ОтветитьHow would you get internet to a barn 120 feet away from my house?
ОтветитьEven with this explanation, I still believe this is witchcraft.
Ответитьdid he seriously call DSL "high speed"
ОтветитьThanks for this. Straight to the point.
ОтветитьIf you are running a house off grid with solar and inverter, do these devices have an impact on the inverter?
Ответитьsee boy im still here
ОтветитьHow on earth I'm i just finding about this now .....
ОтветитьBut what do I kno
Ответить
