These are all 2nd generation Americans. Their foreign-born parents that immigrated to the US are 1st the generation.
ОтветитьFirst generation is the person who migrated to country. As the child we are second generation
ОтветитьFirst generation your making history in your family tree ✨first gen✨
ОтветитьAmerican dream is over. Millionaire trader dream is rising.
ОтветитьSo they are all technically second generation Americans 😆
ОтветитьI fulfilled most of what I thought was my American dream. I wanted to move out of my hometown which I did but it was because of gentrification. I wanted to have a room in the second floor, have balcony in my room which I do even if it is broken and I can't be on it because it might break even more and we don't have money to repair it. I wanted my own room and a full or queen size bed, which I have a queen bed. I wanted a canopy but I have a mesh that is pink and I put to cover my bed from mosquitos. I have my own closet even if it is small. I have a signed book series by Twilight author. I wanted to live through historical times I made that wish after reading about WW2 and there were traveling nurses and I thought that sounded cool I was in 4th grade so I wish I would also live in a time that I needed to show what I was made of. I went through 9/11 and could see the smoke from my town and smell it most horrid smell. I lived through the NYC blackout, Covid, Inflation and Recessions. But I am still here even if there are things I don't like of the US we did a better job than some countries during covid and that is saying a lot because our restrictions weren't strong but at least we had restrictions. I also didn't die from Covid yet so I am counting my blessings.
ОтветитьAlmost everything they're saying applies for the West, so maybe the American dream is actually the Western dream?
Ответитьthe American dream is dead
ОтветитьDepends on what you mean. My parents are 1st generation Americans from india. I'm a second-generation American who was born in Arkansas.
ОтветитьFor people born in this country, the American dream is a myth. Your typical monolingual American takes everything for granted, self absorbed and does not appreciate anything. Even a homeless person most times a junkie has a better life than someone in another country, trying to achieve it. I came to the US with nothing, did not know the language but I did something about it. Studied, served in the military, worked hard and the fruit of all my sacrifice:
1. Financially stability for life.
2. I have everything I need and items I wanted.
3. Education.
4. Home ownership.
5. Future generations will have the same opportunity as I did, in this country.
Understanding the value of hard work and money isn't something most American don't truly understand and most take it for granted, expecting a hand out or a safety net. For anyone to say, the American dream is dead... I am living it and smiling EVERY day. You are the problem. This whole racism this and that... the man has never ever held me down. Soy Latino!
not Every American is lving the American dream

Ответитьthis video depicts the huge risks people take for the small chance of success.
ОтветитьTRUMP2020
ОтветитьThere’s high expectations for first generations though because we need to create a strong footing for later generations
Ответить"I think I'm living in American dream right now " you are right
ОтветитьRaise your hand if you’re watching this for school 👁👄👁🤚🏽
ОтветитьComing from a first generation immigrant: the American dream is very much real.
ОтветитьAm I the only one that teacher made them watch this for an essay .
ОтветитьHi peeps im 4 years old
ОтветитьWho else is watching this for school 😑🙋🏾♀️
ОтветитьGREAT VIDEO. EVERYONE HAS THE SAME OPPORTUNITY IN AMERICA!! THE 'SYSTEMATIC OPPRESSION' ARGUMENT IS SIMPLY FALSE AND A RESULT OF A VICTIM MENTALITY. WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN SUCCESS AND ACTIONS.
Ответитьcurrently watching during virtual learning
ОтветитьThe chick's from Pakistan and Hungary are really cute.
Ответитьi'm the first generation american of my family out of all my 6 siblings i was the only one that was privileged to be the first u.s born child, and i'm so thankful for my parents. My dream is to get all the stuff they wished to have back then and now.
Ответитьmy parents moved from Honduras to NY in the 1980´s, I moved from the U.S. to Roatan, Honduras in 2011. Not your average first generation American story but I´m so glad I got to experience the village that saw my parents grow up. This move helped me to understand my parents more.
ОтветитьAmerican nightmarr nowadays
Ответитьaren’t all these ppl second generation?
ОтветитьThat is the beauty of our country. I don't see my fellow first-gen Americans as different people from other countries. I see them as my fellow Americans. We are the American dream realized. We must always fight against racism in this country and fight for justice for our diverse country.
ОтветитьMy family came to America roughly 326 years ago. It totally sucked. Most people that we loved died and food grew very scarce. We didn't have a "Thanksgiving" but despite it all we survived and prospered. No natives, animals or marine life were even slightly disturbed during this movement of people that isn't unlike shipping your homeless to other States, i.e. NYC Racist Bigot Mayor Butthead!
ОтветитьTaiwan! <3
ОтветитьBeing a first generation American with an entire Irish family it gets annoying when all these plastic paddys on paddys day claiming how Irish they are when they aren’t at all. Please stop
-thank you for my ted talk
this is pretty wack
ОтветитьI don’t know if I can classify as a “a first-generation American” my parents arent American but they are African/Afro-Swedish but I am African American since I got my American citizenship from living 5 years in American and doing the testes.i am like every other American we all started somewhere but in my heart I am forever a Nubian and Swedish ❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьMy parents both immigrated from brazil. Right now I’m in high school almost graduating and heading off to college. I realize that my parents sacrificed their education and life and put everything on the line to come to the US, to a country where they didn’t know the language or culture. As the oldest of the 3 kids, I will be the first to graduate high school in my family and the first to attend college. It’s hard going through something that’s a major milestone in your life with help from your parents because they don’t know how to help you. But my parents are always by my side when I take these big steps for my future. I stay up late every night because I’m studying to better myself for me and my parents. Younger me would’ve never thought that I’d be taking AP courses my junior year of hs or that I’d be in the national honor society. I love them and I wouldn’t be who I am now without them. 😊❤️❤️❤️🇧🇷
Ответитьthis is an amazing way to show what it's like to be first-generation.
ОтветитьI thought first-generation meant the immigrant.... not the child of the immigrant...
ОтветитьWho's the girl with Hungarian parents???
ОтветитьAt what point do people stop calling themselves "immigrants"? Is it by the 4th or 5th generation?
ОтветитьI'm currently in Arizona and need major guidance.
ОтветитьI feel like The American Dream for all the immigrants is to just have a good quality of life and feel comfortable around the people. That's why I love America. Everyone's different in terms of ethnicity and so usually won't be rude to you just because you're from another country.
ОтветитьMy wife and I are examples of the American Dream. Immigrants in 1963. No money. Mechanic making $3 / hr. Wife takes care of our child and me. Continuous education paid by employer gets me to Designer, Engineer, Technical Sales and General Manger. We are now comfortably retired at age 75. No divorce, debts. Savings in stocks and bonds
Our son with same education and career managed to divorce twice, arrested for DUI and possession of Pot. Totaled 3 cars (DUI). Of course very little money.
Make america great again
ОтветитьViva Mexico 🇲🇽
Ответитьlegal immigration people
ОтветитьGary Vaynerchuk was an immigrant and look at him now. Being an immigrant or being a son/daughter of an immigrant should not be an disadvantage. There are cons, but they can transform into pros with a switch in attitude. It does matter where you come from, but what matters more is where you're going. You deserve it
ОтветитьMy parents, 3 sisters, and brother immigrated from the Philippines, and I was born 8 months after they moved here. They moved here so they themselves have a better life, as well as for my siblings and I
