I have wondered about the meaning the lyrics in 'Familiar'. I saw one comment (sorry can find) that it maybe about Obel's consideration of same sex attraction (interesting hypothesis). I do not think so. I think 'Familiar' and also 'Cursed' are Obel's meditation on Stevie Nick's masterful 'Landside'. I think Obel and her partner were not about to have children for some reason (sadly all too common) - that is the Curse. It is also "the ghost that the others can't see" and it is also the 'danger.' A beautiful pair of songs on high rotation for me, but unfortunately sad.

This has to be one of the best songs ever recorded, ever. You can like metal, rap, etc but will straight up lie if you say this doesnt send chills up your spine from start to finish.
