The SAT was invented as a financial barrier to poor students so they wouldn't go to college so the government wouldn't have to pay tuition assistance. Change my mind.

Quite sadly how many exams do students need to take more tests? All colleges should throw this out!

I only took the SAT once and I got a bad score. This shit isn't worth mine or anyone's time. Imo it's a better idea to get into a trade in which it will give you LOADS of money (Though it's not for everyone).

The SAT and other standardized tests are flawed from the start. Just think, why does a law student have to have a profound understanding of calculus? Why does a student need to know how to solve trick questions in a field that they'll never work in? Add that with the fact that when you study for the SAT, you never learn about the content, just how to solve the test. Think how many videos there are about how to guess the right answer. It's ridiculous.

People who fake mental disabilities to get more time on tests absolutely infuriate me. As somebody with ADHD, they are part of the reason we are not believed and why people assume we are cheating or don’t actually need it. They are bad people and should feel ashamed

IMO, test-optional and similar policies make the most sense because they allow each student to tell colleges what they are best at, since everyone has different talents, which is a good thing to encourage

i have an idea about how to improve

1st of all. lets remove the pressure off of it. It would be requierd but uni isnt allowed to discriminate off scores

now thats out of the way lets make it be a measure intelligence test
there will be 3 sections

english, math, something you want completely optional but its a good way to measure intelligence

1st English. this would obviously test your deductive skills. instead of

SENTENCE: tell me what this sentence is saying

you'll be given a mystery. your goal is to read it the mystery, evidence everything. and then use the text to pull proof of who is guilty.
you then have to write a paragraph of why he is guilty. they will be no right answer, but if you can make a good case you will pass the test.

2nd math. problem solving skills

instead of doing applied maths. as in 1 + 1 = 2
you will instead be asked to prove math questions

like this 1,2,3..n(n+1) prove this

they will be graded on a 1,2,3

1 nothing works
2. Proof good, but result wrong
3. everything correct

it will also follow puzzles, but the puzzles wont be a correct solution. just a way that works

3rd section will be a talent your good at. its your choice and its optional

how to improve stress levels is Students get to schedule. when they can take it and how long they think it will take
like if you don't finish 1 day. you can do it the next day.

but there will be a hard limit of how long you take and what time you choose

For grading we keep the same score.

The SAT is not a measure of your intelligence. I'm not saying this to make anyone feel better OR worse, this is just objectively true because the test questions are so specific and require equally specific preparation that intelligence is not a big factor

When I was taking an american test, while being here in Denmark, I had to go to my little brother´s place, because mine is full of screens, and books. Then my phone began it´s alarm that I had forgotten about. So for the last 30 minutes of my test I had an unbearable loud alarm going over and over and over and over again. I did quickly go over the last questions, so I could faster get to turn off my phone. It was really annoying, and I am so lucky, that my little bro is living in a "hole" for Wifi connection, neighbors on all sides have good and reliable connections, but he lives in the in-between areas, where the reach is just too far to have a stable connection, so I also lost connection during my test. -.- I got only "average" for my performance. it was such a waste of money and time.
American tests can go F themselves. :p especially during the CCPvirus.

I am a student, I would say that I have had an easier time learning from home than at Uni.

JESUS died for our sins on the cross, HE shed HIS holy, innocent , precious blood for us (HIS blood washes away ALL sins) HE was buried but on the third day GOD raised HIM from the dead. All you have to do to be saved is: Believe in JESUS, trust in HIS blood. JESUS did everything for you, no works are required for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9)

I’m pretty sure it was like 70 bucks when I was a kid I’ll check online later but for now let’s go to Joe’s number mine the best friend a couple years ago we do not talk anymore for a reason and you’ll know like after I tell you LOL so basicallyr she was One of those people that made so little she got money from the government so she would probably be considered one of the poorest people let me tell you these people find a way to get what they want she was like I said getting money from the government because the government deemed her not making enough money she was able to be an alcoholic 24 seven they had a very nice new flatscreen TV with a Xbox and a PlayStation 4 They had Hulu and Netflix and they lived in section 8 I make enough money that I pay for the government and I also have an apartment a lot smaller than hers that I pay for not the government and I only have my phone for entertainment I would not be able to afford lavishes that she does so if poor people wanted to take the SAT they would find away

Inflating scores? Man, what the hell is even going on over there in America. There's a thing called moderation which you guys pioneered, where 2 teachers get together and grade marks, with a national board working together to ensure all teachers mark the same, assign tests of the same difficulty to ensure that marks don't inflate. It ensures across the whole country, no matter the teacher, where they graduated, what they teach, all marks are moderated to within 3% of each other. A teacher from Perth will have the same grading as one from Tasmania or Darwin.

I don't even know what's going on with your country over there if something as basic as this isn't happening.

in Portugal it works like this. During the three years leading up to the university, all subjects count towards the average. it's about 7 or 8, I don't know if they added any. then we have 4 exams. biology and geology, physical Quimics, mathematics and Portuguese. each ezame can weigh up to 30% of the grade. which means that your grade only changes if you have a different grade by more than two values. the exams are not really to evaluate students, but to normalize schools, ensuring that none inflates students' grades. then, after 3 years the school gives you a final grade, the average. then we go to the education website and make an application, where we place our faculties in order of preference, from 1 to 6. each faculty gives a different importance to the value of the exams, so the average can be different for each university. in the end, the algorithm tells us what college we stayed at. it is usually one of the first three. this means that you can make an application for the university of medicine of Lisbon, for the university of letters of Madeira and for the university of engineering of Porto. no problem, the system says where we can enter, depending on our score and the score of other competitors. for example, one year the minimum medical grade may be 18.60 (0-20 scale) and the following year 16.80. depends on the notes of the people who apply. I sincerely prefer this system, because although we have exams, there is no "biggest exam of our life". of course we have the scary math and portuguese exams, but they are just as important as the others.

The math exam is the One with more subjects, but the portuguese exam is the One with the worst grades.

The exams are always in the same format, but they changed in 2020, in this change, you can fail 3 or 5 question (i don't remember now) without losing points. There are 5 obligatory questions and 15 non obligatory. In the non obligatiory you can choose 12 or 13 to awnser. And if you don't awnser to 4 or awnser them wrong, they don't count.

The exams are made by a council, nominated by the ministery of education. So we have the theory that in years of legislative elections, the exams are easier. Ahahahahahah but
Until now, this was true.

The problem with GPA is that it is impossible to fairly compare (either in terms of grades or in terms of course content). Are high school courses really standardised enough (in content and grading) to be comparable?

In most countries there are public exams. Unlike the AP exams, they are usually paid for by the school. Maybe a better approach would be for AP exams to be automatically paid for by the school irrespective of income, the way A-level exams are in UK state schools/colleges?

No SAT??? Daydream !!!! Relying on teachers grading their own students brings thousands of moral hazards. Everyone giving their own pupils high grade(You already saying more A Less C given)It’s wrong for an expert or institutions to rely on other’s grading information without fact checking how they got it. Totally disappointed for your channel to say it.
