Ranking Every Pokemon Game From WORST to BEST

Finally a list that i can at least somewhat agree with what is said.

first pokemon game ever was emerald on my DS. Couldn't have asked for a better first experience. i still to this day choose it over the other games usually even though ive played through it numerous times. Only complaint is that as it was my first game to introduce me to the franchise, Nothing could ever compare quite the same due to how good it was.

small correction on team star though.
their motives weren't"just kids antsy about being in school"
they were victims of mass bullying by most of the school, and when they banded together to fight back their bullies twisted the story to make THEM look like the bad guys, and it worked, the victims who tried to fight back labelled as overly aggressive freaks with no right to be at that school.

If we got heart, gold, and soul silver on the switch, I would buy them both right away the day they came out my wife got me playing Nintendo switch and you bet your ass I would make her trade with me. I have them on Nintendo DS still my wife had a bunch of old games she did not care about, I opened it up. Holy shit there is gold and silver.

I bought sun the day it came out and it was terrible even when I was a little kid I would have thought the Pokémon were lame

arceus is such an overrated game man, some aspects of that game are so bad, empty world, terrible stoy and writing and characters, bad side quests, untapped potentional, looks so bad graphically and stylestically
scarlet and violet is even better

unpopular opinion here, but gen 2 was absolutely horrible. it took a community mod to make the game fun to play. the way the games got shipped was atrocious

It sounds like you’re being blackmailed into having to play this great franchise, I don’t think this is right franchise for you because when I discovered what would become one of my favourite franchises ever,which was hidden in the form of a relative’s GBC with Pokémon Yellow, beckoning me to play what would eventually become a passion in the form of curiosity. I’ve revisited Yellow, along with Blue, Red, Gold , Ruby, Emerald etc, numerous times. This was during junior high then, and me being a father of three now. It’s the formula that works, that makes me and millions of others that mutually remain loyal.

Switch has been a bad console for Pokemon

When can we get a Pokémon game where we are tricked into doing things for the “insert bad guys” because someone in story that we trust is secretly working for then and using us.

My top 3 are platinum emerald and HG/SS I think you could put those in any order 1,2, or 3 and I wouldn’t complain

I love how his reaction is. I hate this remake because it's so faithful of a remake that it's boring.

But it being a faithful remake of one of my favourite Pokémon games is making it such a great product.

But it's definitely overpriced get it used for half the price if you can 😂

If I had to say what the best generation of Pokémon was, I would probably say generation 4.

Not only did it have the best remakes of already great games, heart gold / soul silver, but it also had one of the best games in platinum, and diamond pearl were not bad.

In generation three, Emerald was a really great game, but unlike in platinum, I didn’t really want to stick around and continue playing to get all of the special event Pokémon, and whatnot. Plus, people really like the remakes of that game and that’s in generation six with X and Y, which I do agree had some pretty cool 3-D effects if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately, with the old 3DS, the 3-D feature didn’t really work well for me where it does now that I have my new 3DS.. so I still have to play through Pokémon white and white2 before I can start to see what that’s like as I’m going through the games chronologically by generation.

I started with fire red, went to heartgold, emerald, platinum, and up is white, white, two, and then undecided from there if I want to pause and redo generation three with an alpha sapphire. Seems kind of like a big mist to not do that considering mega Requeza is pretty much the strongest Pokémon that you can truly use…. Then x, then Ultram Moon most likely, And I don’t know if I want to replay through shield… I never downloaded the DLC because I was so mad that Pokémon we’re gonna be in the game and that they put that behind a payroll ad just didn’t seem right

I can't stand all the cheesy mega evolution / crystal evolutions etc... that's where I stopped playing.

I didn't realise they had done so many remakes of the games before these. I might have to come back to Pokémon and try them out 😁

All easily top 4 games, put them in any order, but this is my preference.

The only huge flaw these games really have is that HMs really suck to play around. BW2 is the best about not needing HMs for every route and you can do with having HM mons in the PC for most of a playthrough, so I'm placing it higher. Same reason why platinum is lower, introducing rock climb for some reason. Emerald gets a pass on dive because I'm biased and started playing Gen 3.

For the rest of the list I'm ignoring any version of a game that's a strict downgrade. Games like DP, ORAS, etc. are just going to clutter up the list as well as just being hard to rank amongst other gens.

#5 Fire red and leaf green. Kanto is just an amazing region, and this is the best way to play through it.

#6 Scarlet and Violet are a little over hated, personally I rarely had performance issues aside from the lake area. The game isn't perfect but it's a lot of fun and it's a fresh take on the series. The map is very fun to explore, and I love that battles take place on the actual map. Also I actually cared about completing the Pokedex during a normal playthrough for the first time. I hope Gen 10 sticks with the open world formula and improves upon it, like battling the gyms in any order and having their Pokemon scale to that level would also be a welcome addition.

#7 Arceus is a little overrated. It's not bad by any means, and i would be okay putting this at 6, but the repetitive gameplay was a little too grindy for me. Trainer battles were very underwhelming, it was weird to me that a strong wild pokemon could faint a few pokemon if you weren't careful, but a trainer just couldn't do anything. The boss battles and quests were absolutely fantastic and I hope they port those into a traditional Pokemon game.

#8 XY are solid games, just a little too short and a tad too easy. A third game really could've done wonders, but we just never got it. Also, the introduction of fairy type is very good.

#9 Sun and Moon- The games are just too short. Replacing gyms is fine, but replacing them with just one strong pokemon encounter, and having just 4 was not a good idea. If this game had 8 trials and bigger islands, it maybe could've been solid. I think it was here where the game production really started to feel too rushed. XY already felt like it was missing content to meet a deadline, but SM felt like half the game was missing.

(Truth be told I haven't played the ultra games, aside from the new DLCs, these and gen 1+2 are the only games I haven't played)

#10 SwSh- It has nothing to do with dexit or graphics, although those don't help it. The routes are incredibly boring and there's not much in the way of traversing the environment. Hidden paths, dungeons, and puzzles are all absent. It's get from point A to B and fight some unskippable trainers along the way. The only choice you'll make is whether or not you want to fight wild Pokemon. The wild area is okay, but kinda awkward.

#11 Let's go- Yes it's technically a downgrade to FrLg. But it's different enough I wanted to place it, as well it being the worst Pokemon game to date.

Idk what it is but emerald just never clicked with me like everyone else. It's solid, but I'd rather just play sapphire personally for nostalgia. BW2, Ultra Sun and Moon and S&V are probably top 3 games for me, although adding in nostalgia it'll always be sapphire
