One thing the game needs is a wholesaler for ship parts. Quite a few complaints about all the traveling between shipyards needed to get the best parts.

About crafting/modding/ship building. The earlier the better. The moment you are free to do whatever in the game is the moment you start mastering these skills. Certain backgrounds also help.

Proffesor - already has 3 points required for weapon, armor, and I think pharmaceutical.

Bounty Hunter - also hads two or hree points for ship building.

Thanks, Sarge. I picked up 2 or 3 things from your guide, and will watch it again.

For anyone [else] struggling to start with, the usual Bethesda cheats apply - like 'tgm' for God Mode or 'additem'. I use tgm in overpowered space battles, as no matter what I try the game won't let me target ships so I have to blat them the hard way.

Also, if you're surveying a planet (especially for a quest), don't board a pirate ship as they may take off into space. You'll lose your ship (at least till you visit a shipyard), but more importantly you'll lose your original generated region. Even if you land in the same spot you chose before, all the landmarks will have disappeared - and the local map won't show the new ones despite being visible on the scanner.

A tip for making money: use the list by value to keep the best value weapons. Drop high-weight low-value ones. Ignore spacesuits, helmets and packs - unless they're better, then swap them. Don't bother picking up crafting items (buy them instead) or food (as they don't restore enough health for their weight compared to Med Packs).

First off, decide if you are gonna max out NG+, If so, ignore everything in this video. Spend a few points in boost packs and then don't spend any more points. Spending point before you max out your NG+10 can result in a bug that you don't get the buff from the skill, so wait. Don't worry about your level, you can do everything in a Higher area at any level, swap to very easy if needed. DO NOT do any side quests, companion quests, or Faction quests. DO NOT worry about scanning things, building out posts, collecting items, building ships, or making any money. Don't worry about mods, XP hacks, credit/weapon glitches, or any exploring. The only thing you want to do is complete the main mission, collect the artifacts, and visit temples, THAT IS IT, NOTHING ELSE. Repeat this process 10 times. Yes your first 30 to 40 hours of game play is to not play the game. Once you have complete this process 10 times, you are now free to enjoy the game and you can follow this video guide. You will either Thank me later or while you are bouncing your head off your keyboard later, you'll be saying "I wish I had listened to Phester".
