Extraordinary what they achieved back then, it still blows me away now. That skeleton scene sounds like it was a proper nightmare.
ОтветитьI was wondered how they did that train shot with arnold in the window without CG. It was a tiny projection!
ОтветитьThis movie was one of the best in the late 20th century.
ОтветитьAs beautiful as it is that skeleton scene made no sense. All the dudes with the guns had to do was take one step to the side and shoot Arnold cause it's all played out in a few feet of space. Still one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made though.
Ответитьman, thats some serious spoopy
ОтветитьStarts talking about the dust buildup in the xray photography... that’s straight up skrim alchemy level stuff.
ОтветитьThe film is a masterpiece, but I do take issue with the X-ray scene. Even if Quaid smashed through the X-ray, he would only be a few feet away from the guards who ran around to confront him. In the film, the X-ray security guards just stop chasing him after he jumps through, which makes absolutely no sense.
ОтветитьEeede
ОтветитьYour age not allowing you to see this in the theatre, Or not having an idea to see it at all because of your age, (and making the attempt to sneak in), 10 yrs old in my case, not lending to researching upcoming theater releases and rather be running around with a football in the field (good stuff too) , really takes away the chance of seeing movie history being made doesnt it !? 20/20 hindsight babys a bitch. BUT I saw this on VHS when it came out so 10 yrs old seeing this on 21inch TV at 10 yrs old ?! Mind blown 😳 😐 💀 😑 👀 🤣
ОтветитьMr Stetson doesn't speak from the front of his mouth. Great SFXer all the same.. but pick it up
ОтветитьNotice that Mark Stetson placed Arnold in 3rd car and that steam vents were used. because Stetson was contracted by director to perform modeling.
ОтветитьSci masterpiece.
Ответитьhahahaha, no you don tolk to me, you tolk to wordrobe
ОтветитьThose effects was made so perfect even now with CGI no one could do better.
ОтветитьPractical/optical effects rarelly doesn't age well because you're actually seeing real objects. The same can't be said about cartoonish CG.
Ответить14 people ran out of air. 😄
ОтветитьSooo not used to seeing Michael Ironside playing a SUBORDINATE. Usually he’s the bad guy heavy(Scanners, Extreme Prejudice anyone?)
But then again, as I have aged in life, Ronny Cox plays a better bad guy than than the good from Beverly Hills Cop.
I was involved in the movie industry ... a long, LONG time ago on the production side. But if I had to do it over again I would have actually tried to become an actor just so I could work alongside these acting greats from the ‘80’s.
This movie is a MASTER PIECE of scifi movie making.
ОтветитьThis movie makes us all wish we had three hands.
ОтветитьAlso the decompression was realistic. Nobody explodes. They just choke, gasp, and their faces expand. The brain inside the skull swells causing the eyes to bulge.
Dave from 2001 was only out in a vacuum for seconds. Cohagen was exposed for a full thirty seconds before going unconscious. He would just be a bloated corpse.
from time when film making was a masterful craft, brimming with talent and technical knowledge
ОтветитьI've been dreaming (literally) about total recall miniatures effect this year. And not far enough 3 months ago this came out. It's like a dream comes true, TOTALLY. Thanks for making this video, much appreciated :)
ОтветитьThis movie stands on its own and did not need to be remade.
ОтветитьI don’t think people realize how incredibly amazing these practical effects were... ARE. This is and was amazing
ОтветитьMaaan I thought this was gonna be about Quad's face vfx
ОтветитьFinally wait end....i was waiting your next videos
ОтветитьFor a director who supposedly didn't care about the video market, he made sure they canceled the Letterboxed (Widescreen) LaserDisc version and only offered a full-frame version. It wasn't until the late 1994 LD that a Widescreen version was available (THX certified and AC-3 5.1 surround).
ОтветитьDid the sets go into a landfill?
ОтветитьVery interesting - thank you for posting!
Ответить480p? Really? :(
ОтветитьWhy is the quality only up to 480?
Ответитьoutstanding!!!
ОтветитьTotal Recall is one of my favorite sci-fi films. I remember being amazed by the special effects seeing it in a theater in 1990. It's funny with all the technology of today, Total Recall still looks more convincing than many films of the past 30 years!
