The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is proud of its record of historic preservation through successful consultations during the Section 106 review process. This is one of our Success Stories, the preservation of one of two remaining World War II-era black officers clubs at Army Base Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. The restored building provides interpretation of serving in the military during segregation. The project also preserved a mural painted by a black officer who served on the base. The building, Countee Hall, is named for him.
