Miyamoto Musashi 宮本 武蔵 (1584–1645) was a famous Japanese swordsman who fought in over 60 duels , believed to have been one of the most skilled swordsmen in history. He founded the Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu, or Nito Ryu style (the style of fencing with two swords) and wrote Go Rin No Sho (The Book of Five Rings) a classic work on strategy, tactics, and philosophy.
...while he was fighting a man named Shishido who was a master with the Kusarigama (a long sickle attached to a length of chain with a weighted end) Shishido succesfully disarmed Musashi and was moving in to finish him off when suddenly Musashi drew his Wakazashi and hurled it at Shishido, piercing his chest.
