I still drive a chevy trailblazers due to new equinox premier and no awd 2.0turbo or better and my last 2020 chevy equinox premier motor blew and then tranny and maintenance is higher than all my trailblazer and i have even oil pump and steering rack drops to fix anything and it was same on new gas

Rich, You simply need to buy another accessory for the Rivian. The correct accessory wil work for your other electric vehicles also. Just buy a 5kW generator and a few gas cans and plug in while you are driving. You may need to alter the firmware but that nice little cargo hatch on the Rivian could hold generators and gas.

Wow I did not know those things have that long of charging times. That's awful that's useless, if you used it for an adventure vehicle and you expended power over the night and you had to leave your spot and go find a EV station and it will take 2 or 3 hours for it to you know even get to 80%. No way. Adventure vehicle my ass, status symbol that's all.

Charging at home is where the savings kick in. I want an ev, but I can't justify the cost. I currently have a 2000 Chevy K3500, srw, longbed. I love it, never giving it up. I'd love to hybrid the thing. 11mpg is a great day. 5 mpg or less when towing 10,000 pounds at 75 mph.

It took you 2-3x the time to drive from Jersey to NC and you saved basically nothing. Until they get fast chargers available at every gas station so multiple cars can charge it won’t work. I mean they need 25-50 chargers if everyone goes EV

Well at least after Ford CEO tried going cross country with a lightning he made a deal with Tesla so Ford owners can charge at Tesla chargers

I will never own an E.V. I am not biased against them. However, the mileage is so horrible and the wait time to charge is ridiculous. I will use dinosaur juice all day. I personally think Hydrogen fuel cells are the way to go but what do I know?

Hence where a hybrid drive vehicle might be a welcomed option…. Then again, one of the selling points for high end ICE,Hybrid and EV rides is that the well-to-do initial buyer is unusually not the type to drive long distances, wherein they can more conveniently fly to their destination… thus the importance of having a robust EV charging network avail to them, isn’t a high priority to the majority of those EV buyer demographics, w/ Rich obviously being an outlier to that assessment….

I own an EV as my only car. It cost me about 10-20% more than the petrol version of the same car would have cost. But that's in large part because of the tax deductions on EVs.
Teslas depend on superchargers. There are none within a very wide area of where I live, and the closest 5 (both of them about 50km away) are the wrong way from my normal commute...
EVs are cheaper to drive than petrol cars, unless you're using DC fast chargers. Those things have a MASSIVE surcharge on the electricity prices.
I charge my EV overnight at an AC charger a block away for about 5 Euro. Charging the same amount of KWh at a DC fast charger would cost me 5 times as much.

The people who want to ban petrol powered cars don't care one iota if you can't afford to drive an EV. They don't want anyone (except themselves) have a car at all, because when the general population is dependent on public transport, they have to stay where they're put so can be easily controlled.
So they ban petrol cars while making EVs impossible to afford for the vast majority of the population.
