At this point, it's just racism for Germans. WWII was ages ago and yet English ppl such as Jamie still pretend that they are at war? Look at what their last English manager has done. Nothing. Not a single trophy.

The England NT will be the laughing stock much like China. Hiring a German coach to lead your NT is a bad move because it takes everything away from the international game. China is naturalizing all these foreign players and got a euro coach. While they think they are getting better, it’s sending a wrong message to the Chinese youth - it’s actually saying we are not good enough and the NT is taking shortcuts. I am Korean so maybe the heritage and bloodline has a significance to the Korean identity But I will guarantee you Korea will never hire a Japanese to manage the NT. It’s not just about results, it’s how we do it. It’s through honor and England lost all that by focusing on just the result.

I disagree with Carragher but it's a fair argument, it comes down to what you think international football is. He views it from manager to players representing a nation...can't say he's wrong. I just don't hold the same principles.

At the start of this year's Euros a Dutch coach said in an interview that every coach would want this England squad. World cup quarter and semi finalist , back to back European finalists. Southgate did a fantastic job, Tuchel just have to get that extra 5% out of them. It's just embarrassing that this narrative over took the official announcement. I am very excited for Tuchel to start in January.

My respect for carragher just grew tremendously. He just changed my opinion on the international game. This was a masterclass on presenting what you know is an unpopular take.

Don't we want a manager who has a greatest chance of finishing over the line after all these decades of winning nothing.....? I think Tuchel is top tier. He's not far behind from Klopp with his trophy cabinet. Tuchel's already at a disadvantage. You can bet once he gets his first loss, the media will be all over him..

I’m German and I can fully understand Jamie’s opinion. I will laugh if England wins something under Tuchel. I will claim part of that victory for sure for Germany.

England is not one of the big nations in football. You are lucky to get a great German coach. There is no English coach on his level, not even close. If you want to have a chance to win something eventually, stop crying!

I'm only watching because Jamie Carragher is on. These guys are annoying. Football/soccer is an international game, but Charlie and that whiny guy are so American centric and clueless about the game in Europe.
