They sacrifice everything for graphics
ОтветитьBro I remember I would just get on a motorcycle in gta4 just so I could crash and fling my body across the map good time
ОтветитьWhat do you mean modern, most games still use the same physics engines made in early 2000s like Havok
ОтветитьI miss red faction 2.
ОтветитьAs A Video Game Developer, I'll Use Old School for my Game
ОтветитьNo room for physics must support Ray Tracing and 8k Textures. 😅
Ответитьthey dont suck, in fact theyre the best they ever been, the problem is the players that demand always better graphics and better lighting so all power budget goes to processing those things. creating a pile of barrels with 500 triangles each is a complete different thing than a pile of barrels with 3k triangles, 4k textures, ray tracing, terrain deformation and all the shenaningans players now expect
ОтветитьStarfield has fantastic physics but thats because its using an upgraded version of the engine oblivion used in 2006
ОтветитьI'll never understand why cyberpunk's collision physics managed to reach that state
ОтветитьI actually want your opinion on how Overkill/Starbreeze did with the Payday franchise, personally i think they mastered the modern version of Euphoria physics
Ответитьthat was a terrible video. no research, no discernable jokes, didnt even mention the physics engines themselves except for one. it was just a rant video with a "back in my day" theme.
Ответитьwas watching this without audio and I had no clue what the fuck was supposed to be happening. Suddenly Eminem is the 2009 Ambassador and I'm left at a loss for words
ОтветитьThanks for the video!
ОтветитьCrysis came out in 2007 and the barrels clip was achieved with a console command, very akin to offline rendering. The realtime performance was not that great.
ОтветитьThe quality of gaming has went down hill as back in the early 2000s there was more passion put into games so devs actually took a risk on something rather than playing it safe to ensure maximum profit for only bare minimum product like they do today.
ОтветитьIts almost like they dont sell for the fun anymore
ОтветитьBlame the consumer we buy the shit and so they keep pumping out the shit
ОтветитьPlay Bonelab or Blade And Sorcery
ОтветитьSong name?
ОтветитьStarfield Potatoes
ОтветитьIts not really the physics itself but how much work gets put into it, 2023 has amazing graphics and visuals but depending on the team and the costs, its not easily accessible like that
ОтветитьAs basic and bear bones as cyberpunks physic engine is, everything else in the game makes up for it and I don't think the lack of physics is just laziness so they can make more money for less work because CDPR is a great company that is passionate about their games
ОтветитьOh i remember the days of watching crysis physics experiments, good times.
ОтветитьOh i remember the days of watching crysis physics experiments, good times.
ОтветитьPhysics >>>>> graphics
Ответитьboneworks is a bad game tho
Ответитьdunkey
Ответитьwe get these stupid botched games due to the lack of any love put in these games. from the underpaid and over worked game devs
physics are hard and time consuming to implement
they suck!!!
Ответитьhi
ОтветитьI remember playing Red Faction the first time and I blew a hole in the wall in the mine. I think I spent the rest of the day tunnelling through every corner of it to see how far I could go and usually ran out of rockets before I could manage it. We were spoiled back then.
Ответитьred faction guerrilla still has some of the most satisfying building destruction in a game i’ve ever played and this happened with huge buildings without slowing down or missing a beat on the xbox 360. i haven’t seen many games try something similar since and it’s a damn shame because a lot of the wrecking crew missions were creative, like using a rocket turret to destroy radar towers
ОтветитьWe got shinier textures and duller games
ОтветитьGotta generate every shadow of every hair from every pore or else 12 year olds won’t touch it.
Ответитьany other modern games that are exceptions to the rule?
ОтветитьOn Half-Life Alyx, the fact you do float about and don't have a body that interacts actually adds to the immersion of the game, since the only parts of you that are being tracked, are your hands and head, having your elbows or legs bump into stuff feels weird because of an in game model, doesn't make sense since it doesn't match in your brain
Ответить1st video is crysis. which launched in 2007
Ответитьi personally find the boneworks movement completely terrible and unusable. having the character you control move uncontrollably due to them being tied to a physics environment you cant actually feel does not work well at all. using melee weapons in boneworks is terrible since the character arms always move far slower than your real arms do. it adds a nauseating disconnect
Ответитьdid you have a mario version of jamiroquai playing in the backround? lol
ОтветитьCD projekt red simply doesn't know to code or make games. They only focus on making games to "look" pretty with famous actors.
ОтветитьWhy? Companies want as much MONEY as possible, like the greedy bastards they are,its not that physics engines are worse now,but the games focus too much on graphics
ОтветитьI'm gonna be honest, i didn't like VR physics, i loved Alyx and picking stuff up with the gravity gloves and throwing stuff all around me, i didn't mind being just hands and a head (i also didn't use teleport except for the jumps)
Boneworks just felt sloppy to me cause of the player physics, climbing and stuff just felt weird and a chore to do.
I hear u but the alyx thing is a direct reaction to its own medium. You teleport around in alyx because they found it meshed best with level design and helped the most people exeprience wise. Boneworks is basically designed around player physics. If ur point was that people cant really tell the difference between these two despite this giant difference then i get u
ОтветитьWhich was the first game?
Ответитьyou can walk in half life alyx,
not only teleport
The video went down the shitter with the alex take lol
ОтветитьWasn't crysis released in 2007?
ОтветитьI thought this was an edit so I was caught off guard when the guy started talking lmao
