I know this is an older video. But you are so right about the slope on these dogs. I had 4 over my life. They were amazing dogs. And, they did not look like the deformed dogs that they are now. And it does makes them weaker. The German Shepherd is my all time favorite dog. But, I will not buy another one that looks like a giant deformed roach.

My German Shepherds are fearless protectors, great companions, and loving family pets. Train them up right and the German Shepherd can be the perfect dog. I will never own another breed.

Got attacked by a big one yesterday morning after going home from a night shift, jumped on me, tried to bite my hand I managed to quickly pull my hand back then with both hands, pushed it against a fence then the owned pulled him away, mf was heavy when he jumped he has his front paws on my balls and it hurt my balls

I rescued a German Shepherd from cruel environment and I got to know that she was born in militery dog training center. And the center gave her to a person completely ignorant about dogs. So he never interacted with her and neglected her on a short chain. And then he gave her to even more ignorant person who was involved in dog meat farm.. she was locked up in small cage , bleeding and starved. And she is totally traumatized that she bites her own tail until bleeding and it really looks like almost epilepsy. Because she does it like she is having a seizer. She is getting better everyday and she is really playful and lovely dog. she doesn't quite know how to interact with other living things. My other dog and I are having hard times but also it is very healing for us to see her becoming more stable and comfortable everyday.

I have a sable beauty, Lucy. Her drive is just enough to train her easily, but she's not crazy hyper. She spends all day playing with our other dogs which gives her an energy outlet.

Im 26 years old and i want to get a dog. Either a golden or a german shepherd. I live in germany 😅. I want a dog because i have several mental illness and i feel very alone. When im around animals i feel Energized and happy. Which dog would you guys choose? German or golden?

I saved a 2 year full blood German Shepherd from a kill shelter "Pound" this Christmas in Oklahoma while I was visiting family. She "Arrow" was picked up with a chain around her neck and some dangling down. No owner came forth and no one adopted her so on her last day I took her. She was scared of humans but loved other dogs. So I adopted another to help her feel more comfortable on our trip home to Oregon. She has come so far. She is so loving and smart. I work with her everyday. On the other dog, my friend wanted a dog so he took him "Bo" and they see each other all the time. Bo is a Cattle dog/Border Collie and Very smart. These dogs have new lives...like the move Dog's Purpose.

The more I hear about breeders the more disdain I have for this industry

In my experience, working line dogs in the USA today do not make suitable companions for the vast majority of people. Basically, they behave as if they're hopped up on methamphetamines. I don't feel that the failures of working line breeding programs make good pets - even though working line breeders WANT people to believe this because they need to sell those puppies. Dogs that "fail" from these programs are often shy-sharp and/or plain crazy.

Show line dogs are often ungainly looking and are a mixed bag when it comes to temperament with the German import bred dogs being the most likely to be bags of nervousness. IMO, the last place a regular person should look for a dog is from someone who imports GSD showline dogs and breeds them. They will be seriously over priced AND the risk for nuttiness will be high.

I recommended that people who want a GSD to get to know someone who breeds a "watered down" version of working line dogs and lives with a bunch of adult dogs that can be viewed. If all of the adult dogs behave in a stable way and get along with each other an don't act like ticking time bombs - buy a pup from that breeder. Because the breed is so popular - there are many such breeders in the country and probably one within a few hours drive from anyone's home.

I always wanted a gsd and 9 months ago I got a solid black one from a backyard breeder. I have been training her this whole time and she is a great dog. She seems content to either lounge around all day play with the cat or tug or go for a jog or whatever. I think I may have just lucked out going with the backyard breeder. Although she is pedigreed, but the breeder had no clue about working or show history which I naively only asked about after the fact. But like I said I think I lucked out.

I have a panda shepherd, he’s so big it’s ridiculous. He’s as tall as my couch and easily over 100lbs. His conformation is like that of a working line dog but he probably came from a backyard breeder. I adopted him from the pound. I wouldn’t give him up for the world. He’s so smart and so powerful but he’s learned respect. He’s an exceptional dog. You gotta put in the work. He’s worth every moment.

Working line breeders should breed many fewer dogs because the resulting dogs will not make good pets and 99.9% of dog homes are for pets. It's unfair to expect pet seekers to take "failed" pups from working line breeders just so those breeders can continue to pursue their hobby interests.
