My grand father was right off a reservation and we grew up learning about these plants. Yarrow root has so many uses. Along with plantain(pigears),and comfrey. We make salves and tea. Be careful if you are planning to process your own yarrow root the numbing effect can be so effective that you might cut yourself and not realize it if doing bulk harvesting. Pretty handy that the plant also stops bleeding lol

If the plant isn't dried and placed in oil, won't that cause bacteria?

If the plant is not dry wouldn't that spoil the oil faster ( water and oil). Without a preservative and emulsifier.

Do you have a home made ointment for eczema?

Marshmallow usually only grows in a wet marsh. I live in Idaho and wonder how you are able to grow this.
I am also a University of Idaho Master Gardener.

Comfrey can be used internally for deep wounds. The ROOT is the best part to use. You sure want to let the plants dry longer than suggested. The jar is the least of your problems for moisture.

Been making a bum balm with dried calenduela flowers, dried lavender flowers or EO oil depending on whats available, olive oil, bees wax, shea butter after warmed to melt, adding vitamin EI whip them up with a mixer. It takes a bit, but it whips up to a thick cream.
Have made it for last two babies of my six babies and thus far three grandbabies, zero problems of diaper rash, and use it also for chapped cheeks and lips from wind and sun exposure.
Great for hands, elbows, knees feet as well.

I would like to know why no uses castor oil for this?? I use more castor than any other oil if it’s topical ointment. I infused chilli powder into castor oil and it’s worked better than 800 milligram ibuprofen for my nerve and joint pain. It’s been amazing for my spine and back.

Awesome information! I use a comfrey (blend) salve made by a homesteading friend of mine on my shoulders (torn rotator cuffs). It is the ONLY thing that leaves me pain free, and after a year of use I can unequivocally say that my shoulders have strengthened! I LOVE herbal remedies (God’s medicine cabinet.)

Just tried this today… well month and a week ago. Today was the mixing part into wax… can’t wait to try. Ty.. I used chamomile,yarrow, almond oil, calendula since that’s all I have. I have bought company seeds for next year planting season

now i want to find some comfrey and yarrow seed to grow in doors under lights with my cucumber ! i only have some dried lavender and a calendula plant underlights, so i must figure something out for a salve. i love making magnesium lotion. i studied natural nutrition independently for 6 years before the big lie was announced then while searching the truth, the Holy Spirit indwelled me, convicted me and i'm made anew! tho i will continue to LOVE ALL OF GODS MEDICINES AND FOODS. What state are you located in? The soil looks so fertile. Here where I am the soil is turf and I can’t plant anything without buying soil and if I plant anything it gets so humid and mold and mildew is a problem.

Any suggestions on what could be used on skin after nerve damage from shingles? I itch and the area is sore to the touch. Living with this over 3 years now and still on Gabapentin. No outbreaks thank goodness!
