Sorry. 'vew loved this opera since I was 12, 67 years ago. Have seen many productions. The music is sublime regardless, almost, of performers. For me this is a stupid production, alas.

Just once..l would love to see the original version produced as it was originally written of Faust. Just once with no spins on it. 😢. The end of this was horrible..

With a production design that left nothing to the imagination, the only singer that had a chance to to transcend it was Paul Gay. And if the devil were to sing and look like him nobody would have a chance. Surprised the set designer didn't opt to go a step further by creating a black hole at the end that would have swallowed the entire orchestra and the audience whole.

Musically speaking, this version of FAUST is superb, with Gounod's score brilliantly rendered by the topnotch cast headed by Roberto Alagna. Visually, though, the production leaves a great deal to be desired.

Maravillosa puesta en escena de tan bellisima opera,,, Mula y Alagna son 2 gemas en el Bel Canto,,,el mismo Gounod estara satisfecho con esta representacion de su archifamosa opera,,,ALBRICIAS !!!

Dmitri Hvorowstowski was the best singer in this opera no one can beat him.

La Bastilla es un teatro con un escenario gigantesco que llenan con todo tipo de carteles, cintas, dibujos y , en general escenografías que apabullan la escena y minimizan la representación...a su vez se caracteriza por ser "vanguadista" o sea presentar las óperas con escenografías y vestuarios fuera de toda consideración por el libreto y por los autores de la obra...padece de gigantismo malo como en cualquier cosa...ese mismo año vi un Fausto sensacional en la Ópera Real del Covent Garden con Georghiu, Pape, Hvorovstosky y Grigolo que le pone el pie encima a cualquier otro Fausto contemporáneo...solo comparen el aria de las joyas de ambas representaciones, del mismo año, en esos aspectos pues Georghiu es muy superior a Mula.

PUS BEAU, ÇA N’EXISTE PAS….. QUEL BONHEUR… UNE PURE MERVEILLE.

I understand updating, but a little realism would be nice -- lamme costume for Faust? And sorry, that ending was just a step too far.
