I’ve been creating logos daily since January as apart of a challenge to better myself as a designer and learn more about logo design, as this is where my heart lies.

I’ve always thought of selling some of the logos that I’ve created as I have 170+ of them so far, but really don’t know how to market them, other than showing my instagram where they are.

I also want to get more logo design clients, but again, not sure where to look.

Can anyone give any recommendations on how I can achieve my goal to monetise my logo designing career.

I work as a 2d artist, basically doing everything from characters to environments and 2d game assets. Been doing this for 7 years now and my hourly rate only went from 15 usd to like 25 and I still struggle some times. Honestly, I may just be lazy or arrogant or something. But I do get to pick my work nowadays. So, it's not too bad. I'm from Ukraine btw

I love that there are examples in this video. So many people when making videos like this will tell you what to do, but never HOW to actually do it.

I need someone to break down how to charge for artwork. I'm thinking of setting up a laser cutter and taking my art in a different direction. I might start on the $40 per hour and time how long each piece takes then add the material costs plus an approximation for utilities.

This is really useful advice! Something that I'll add to this is that there might be some sort of union specific to your country (for whoever is watching this) that's relevant to your field. For instance, many countries have musicians' unions, and these will often have rates that are published directly on their websites. These rates are a really good baseline to start with – it doesn't mean you'll always get that rate. Sometimes you might be paid less (although that's not ideal), but sometimes you might be paid more, and people who are at the top of the profession may well charge a lot more.

I'm a musician and composer and would love to get into soundtracks.
Ambient type guitar stuff, post-punk/wave aesthetic stuff, but also riff oriented post-rock and metal and such but also old school hip hop beats - I know.. it's a combination...

This actually does give me a new angle. I have a bachelor's in media specialising in sound design and I was reading up ways to market yourself and it always was about having a portfolio site, doing a video reel etc. and the task felt daunting, not to mention that I was burned so much in the industry I decided to quit it and just do music as a hobby, till I lately have been thinking of monetising my hobby into a side gig say for sound work for games or making game music etc.
This is giving me new ideas and a new thinking angle, thanks a lot Struth!

My top 3 skills are acting, singing, and vocalization (ie voice impressions and a great radio/announcer voice). I'm not fully sure on how to monetize these. Any help from you guys in the comments would be appreciated!

This was awesome

I picked up sewing clothes at the thick of the 2020 pandemic. It was such a creative rush for me. And of course I’d share my work and WIP on my socials. Naturally too, people began telling how I could start selling my work. Several would ask me how much I would charge if I make this or that for them. Since then I’ve been going back and forth whether I would or could push through selling my work or sewing for profit. I’ve only been sewing for a little more than 2 years and I’m just not confident enough to sell for profit. There’s just so many expectations - also all the paperwork, making sure I make profit, making sure I’m not undercharging or overcharging, etc. This video really helped me somehow pick the cluttered directions of my thoughts about my dilemma. Now, I have a kind of outline and checklist to go through as I consider monetizing my creative outlet. This channel rocks!

I find so funny to compare money like that. I mean in Brazil 2500AUD(1-day work) is around what I make in 3 months of work and I make a decent amount for this country.

I work as a concepter for a tourism marketing organisation. I want to work as an illustrator/artist. And I do some odd jobs on the side. It’s weird when you say 1000 a day, we would totally pay that at work for an artist. But for me to ask that as an artist is so haaaard!
