How to Get More Sound from your Denon or Marantz A/V Receiver!!

I didn't notice much, if any, difference between loudness management On and Off in a 7.2.4 setup with the X3700H

What am I doing wrong please? By streaming I have plenty of Dolby stuff, including Atmos. How do I input them in order to turn Loudness Management off then Dynamic Compression off. If I am viewing them and then press the Setup button on the remote of my Marantz NR1711, go to Audio, I don't see LM.
Do I need an input for the signal connected direct to the AVR? Shouldn't the signals from the TV be going to the AVR for processing via the HDMI eARC?
I do not play BluRays.

Jesus, the difference in my 4800 is enormous!! Do I need to run the calibration again with this setting Off?

Note: This setting affects how the AVR reacts to the "DialNorm" setting in an Atmos soundtrack. With loudness management off, the AVR should ignore the DialNorm setting and play Atmos soundtracks at the same level through all speakers. However, not all AVRs can properly turn loudness management off, even if it looks like it is off, it is not. When loudness management is On (or can't be turned off), height effects will play at a lower level.

I go to audio, then sound parameter but it only has subwoofer nothing else? I’m using denon 3600, help please, how do I engage it to come on

I've had my Denon 4700h for about 18 months and really thought it was setup as good as possible for my space. Conversely, I have always been disappointed with how narrow Atmos stuff sounded, and how stupidly high I had to crank the volume. This... has been a game changer. Thank you so much for this tip. I'm now off to re-watch all my Atmos 4k movies. 😂

Dude, I had no idea this was a thing. I changed it, didn't notice much differnce in the clip I had on, but yeah I don't want it compressing my dynamic range so shut it right off. Thanks guys.

I tried this on my new X4800H but when I changed it to “off” my volume didn’t change. I still have to go up to like 62 to get decent sound.

This will only work on newer systems? As how will I get my UI on screen with a 4k signal playing with atmos?

Good afternoon TD. I want to complete a major calibration. However, with Dirac Live, Dirac Bass Control. Mini DSP, and your Spatial Audio Calibration. I'm a little confused. Do I need to Dirac Live and Dirac Bass Control, then use your disc??

Apparently I'm doing something wrong or I'm not feeding my 4700 proper Atmos because I don't have that option under surround Parameter on mine. I fed it Dolby Atmos from my Roku Ultra, the display says Atmos but the option doesn't show up.
Posted this here too so hopefully someone can tell me what to do to enable the option.

Hey im using Onkyo RZ 50 and i was watchinh Reached in tat.. but after calibration with dirac i dint even hear any sound frm my surrounds . As for now im usiing 5.0 set up ! I kept more decibles too. This s be becoz of lossy audio thru prime video or any setting i need to look up !?! Kindlt clarify

Just changed the setting. Afterwards I adjusted my levels with spl meter. Sounds great thank you!

Great video! Hmm, I only have a 5.1 system, but my Denon 4700 does display ATMOS when playing an ATMOS Blu-ray disc. Would this tweak apply to my situation? I will say, a regular DVD will generally sound much more dynamic in my system than Blu-ray discs.

I guess I need to ask what about if you're not running atmos you only got seven speakers hooked up are you able to get in this setting I guess when I get home I'm off work I'll check it out

Hi Techno Dad, I switched off the Loudness on my Pioneer Elite AVR and boom definite change. I will have to re-calibrate using Spatial just a tad. Oh, by the way, your new Atmos Video you made is KICK ASS!! BRILLIANT!

I have a Denon X4400H, I set it to off. I even set Cinema EQ to off. But didn't notice anything different. Played 2 movies on atmos parts back and forth toggling with settings on and off in comparison but didn't hear anything different.

Hi Techno Dad, WOW, turned off loudness compression, you’ve just transformed my Denon A110 and svs ultra/elevations/dual sb3000, 7.2.8, I can hear Atmos now, so I have to watch my 4k blu rays again.

I’m cooling my jets while I await arrival of my spatial audio calibration disk - thank you in advance!! - is this change (turning loudness management off) something that just needs to be done once?I have a marantz av7706. So if I get this right, insert atmos disk into player, enter setup on AVR, select audio, select surround parameters, turn off loudness management and cinema eq, exit out from menu? Thanks again!

Hey Techno Dad, will this disturb audyssey? Would I need to run audyssey again after turning it off?

Secondly once I have turned this function off (while playing atmos), would It also apply to any dts:X content I play subsequently? In other words is this a global setting?

I wonder if this only on Denons. I tried finding it on my Marantz Cinema 50 using Dirac and the setting isn’t even there, even with content playing.

I only use that at night - keep the levels restrained for late night listening. It use to be called " night ".

Also .. that auto tracking camera is really nice. =)
