Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day!
ОтветитьSay Heah, Appropriate. Very Nice. I have some real W.W.2 Ka-Bars that were passed on to their sins with writting on the Sheaths,,I even have one that was used on a mission where all the markings were ground off. Sort like sterilizing the knife. Oh, I have one made by Camillus also. Yeah, they just don't make them like they use to. Infact a newer one I use the guard loosened up. Not on those W.W.2 ones. But Yeah,,I like O.K.C. Infact, because of the steel (5160) and how it worked for us onn a partucualr trip. My Ranger RD-9, I even have a Ranger Afghan, I was informed their selling for $300.00 if you can find one. But anyhow, I bought the Gen2 SP-47, 49, 51 and one of my Fav. Shoppers for the $$$ its a real good one, my SP-53. Yeah, Ontario Knife Company makes a good knife for the $$$. I Wish You a Blessed and Safe Memorial Day.,,.
ОтветитьNice words and thoughts for a special day.the story of the knife I really enjoyed as always.take care atb paddy
ОтветитьThis is actually the only legitimate USMC Combat Knife in production today. In reality the Kabar version is a remake with very little or no heritage.
ОтветитьI prefer this knife over the Ka-Bar USMC.
Ответить£78 on Amazon UK (about $100) - rip off Britain again.
ОтветитьI just ordered one today thanks to your review! I can't wait for it to arrive!
ОтветитьAmazon under forth bucks a must buy
ОтветитьIn terms of the actual "Military Combat/Utility Knife," ka-bar is a generic term, like "Scotch" tape. They were made by a lot of different contractors, all to Government specifications, so, basically, whoever made it, it was the same knife, all equal quality. The commercial Ka-Bar knife is just a dandified version of the "real" knife. The one that followed me home from Viet Nam was made by Utica, and, other than the name stamped onto the blade, it was no different than the Ontario or Camillus version. They're all damn fine knives for the price and the purpose to which it was built.
ОтветитьThat's the cheaper non-commercial brand of K Bar it's cheaper that's the one I was issued in the Marine Corps you know the Marine Corps always goes with the cheapest version
ОтветитьMy units armory had milk crates full of them, nobody ever pulled them because we all had personal knives but they are still “issued”
ОтветитьStick tang, not rat tail.
ОтветитьI have one. The steel cap and about 3rd leather washer from the butt cap had some play. Over time, the leather washers wiggled like a loose tooth. So after carefully removing the pin. It actually pins through the steel cap. So removing was ok. I took my time and gave love taps and eventually the pin drove enough to remove the cap. I didn’t drive the pin all the way though. More than half way, and the cap can wiggle loose. I removed all the washers and guard until there was just the blade. After spending an hour placing the leather washers. I applied carpenters glue from the last groove to steel cap. Even applied some glue under the steel cap and drove the pin back in place. Total time about an hour and half. Now the handle feels solid. I’m thinking about applying lacquer to the handle. After removing the leather washers. It appears the handle is painted over.
ОтветитьThe finish on that handle looks terrible -- they literally just dipped the bottom in black paint, didn't they?
ОтветитьI was under the impression Ontario didn't start producing the MK2 (Utility Fighting Knife) until 1980?? They were the last company contracted to produce issued "ka-bar"??
ОтветитьThis I knife I know as the Navy Mark 2 or the USMC model 1219c2 knife. I recently gave my Camillus Mark 2 to my nephew. Now I intend to replace it with one made by Ka-Bar, Inc. and another by Ontario Knife Company. It's too bad Camillus went tango uniform back in 2007 because I'd like to get another one of those too.
ОтветитьI deployed with this bad boy.
I beat the hell out of it and it never showed. Super under rated
How much is a original WW2 US Ontario knife?
ОтветитьIt is not welded anywhere on it.
They wouldn't ruin the heat treat like that. The pommel is pinned through the side into the tang like a KABAR.
Is the spine thick enough for batoning in the woods? could you use it for bush crafting?
ОтветитьLove his voice
ОтветитьHow much is a fair condition knife from WW2 worth?
ОтветитьWould you use this knife in the field
ОтветитьHello Sir..I have heard this knife some veterans use even for survival, building shelters, batoning for long time and never had any doubt...they said that they put their live to the hands of this knife od theirs♥️♥️💯🦾
