Love watching your kit parade.
ОтветитьLove seeing all your kitted stuff. I need to go through mine because I'm sure there's some I can put everything back because I'm less likely to start them now. On Home of the Brave, I can see what you're saying about the flag because it's backwards from how it's usually portrayed and how it is if you view it from the front, but it's not "wrong" because it is how it would appear if the wind were blowing to the left. That being said, I think you could shift the flag pole to the left just a few stitches, stitch the flag going to the right, swap the tall and short tree locations and move the balloon to the left of the flag pole and it looks like it would work. You might have to shorten the shorter tree trunk by 1 or 2 stitches since it will be higher on the hill, and maybe move it a stitch or 2 to the right so it doesn't look like the branches are sitting on the roof on the taller house. Now that I think about it, it might be easier to just scan the pattern and reverse the image, and then you would just have to "unreverse" the words when you stitch them.
ОтветитьOn the Home Of The Brave project with the backwards flag... what you if you inverted the whole project, mirror image type thing and then imposed the normal font on over the grassy area. Take the words out, flip it over, put the words down. It makes sense in my brain. :-).
ОтветитьThank you for taking the time to show all your fabulous kitted projects. Happy stitching.
ОтветитьWell now! THAT was a journey! I have a number of kitted projects -- but in a single small drawer. I have a number of WIPs...maybe 2 dozen. I've given up on WIPGO and other tracking systems, so I can be free to stitch days or weeks at a time on 1 or 2 projects. Sometimes I have a theme (For exampler, I chose "Canada" for July because July 1 is Canada Day. I finished one tiny (5" x 7" Canadian reproduction sampler and began another, finishing the first of 4 pages of the pattern.) August is "florals" so I'm focusing on 2 pieces in that theme...and September is Sampler September so...well, you get the idea! May you be able to prioritize the contents of your crates in some way so you will enjoy working on them!
ОтветитьAre you tired from showing all your kits lol?
ОтветитьLove this kit parade!!! I NEVER seperate fabric if I buy with the pattern. It goes into the plastic bag. If I have the pattern threaded I NEVER take out the threads. 1. dye lots change 2. If I take out the threads I will have to rebuy, and I will not remember what I've taken out until I'm stitching. I kit so I can stitch when I want to. I have about 25 WIPS, and too many kits. Biut I love all. I wont even tell you how many quilting projects I have waiting. Someday.......
I have the PTT pattern. The flag does not botherr me too much. On a Windy day in Chicago all of our flag sblow in every direction. But you could move the flag pole over, put into ground and you should not have to shorten too much.
On the flag pattern you want to reverse. I would leave the flag where it is and move the pole to other end towards the edge of fabric and then move the blue star section on flag to other side also.
ОтветитьI did Tisket a Tasket last year in the blue colours. But if you want to do it in Red, Julie Connell? Reflections Framing FT etc has a Red conversion.
ОтветитьThank you for your lovely kitted-up video - it looked a lot like mine if I had one and I'm 78! I know someone is going to have to decide what to do with my stash some day. We even have some of the same patterns. I will say tho that you splurge more than I do considering the silks you have! But I may have more patterns, who knows. Thanks for entertaining me. I appreciate you and so glad you retired. LoriO
ОтветитьYour computer has the ability to FLIP the entire piece as is. If nothing looks backward, great. If it does look backward maybe you could just play with motifs. Also on the white silk on red. Be careful at first because if the thread was cotton, it would start to turn pink as you kept pulling the strand thru the fabric. Don't know how silk will react. Good luck in getting this all done!!! But you are now retired
ОтветитьIf the flag bothers you change the direction just keep the placement similar. Give it a longer flag pole and have it still waving over the small tree
ОтветитьAs a Veteran I hold the the flag close to you heart. I thank you for knowing the flag is backwards, few designers know that, I would cut it down and change it to fly properly. I would then find a motif to fill the space. Thanks again.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing gonna have to watch in two parts - off to the office. But the flag on the "home of the brave' not sure if that was the name of the chart would bother me as well (married to history nerd and he will remind me every time he looked at it that it was backwards) can you just flip it small tree and the big tree and then put the hot air balloon on the other side? Know I am over simplifying it but might be able to be done. Good luck - looking forward to my part two with tomorrows coffee.
ОтветитьYou have some great projects. Thank you for sharing Hugs
ОтветитьYeah, I totally need to do a kit parade too, just to see what I have. Of course, I'll need to start a flosstube first 😂 Loved seeing all of yours!
ОтветитьYou could put flag on flagpole in yard. It bothers me too!
ОтветитьNancy, not only do you have so many WIP’s, you have a the mother of all kits and stash! I think that the pandemic caused many of us to “collect” more than we can ever get stitched,,and social media has been a big contributor to enable all of us! For a while, I felt like I needed to have all of the things that people I follow were doing! I am monogamous as I feel like if I am working on one project, that I never seem to go back to a previous project I have started. I have kitted a lot of things, but I did take threads out as I found myself needing many of the flosses in kits for current projects. I do keep fabric in my kits, and some of the specialty floss if it is a silk or something I will only use for a specific project! I found it better to organize my floss and then I didn’t find myself with numerous skeins of the same colors. Not a big deal for DMC, but over dyes, and silks add up to lots of money! You have lots of wonderful kits ready to go! Thanks for the parade!
ОтветитьGood to see you again. You sure have some fun kits waiting. Looks like you have a lot of bags to make.
ОтветитьI can't even imagine the time and effort it took to do this video. You are appreciated!! xx Michelle
ОтветитьPut the flag pole on the outer edge of the stitch and then reverse the flag waving towards the center.
ОтветитьOn the pattern with the flag going the wrong direction, can you do a mirror image on a copier to stitch from?
ОтветитьNot bad, Nancy. I have at least 75 kits.🤪 And I am 70 yo tomorrow!!🫨 Cra-zy! I think we do this because you never know when it will stop being published. I am monogamous unless the design comes out in a series. I have 4 of those going on right now. I am stitching a bastardized version of the Olympic Sal. I am stitching Les Olympiades des Gnomes by Jardin Prive and making that one pattern work for all the prompts. My goal is to finish it before the Olympics end. What if you put the flag pole of Home of the Brave on the left side of the flag, then you could put the blue of the flag at the correct end. I don’t think you would have to change much. And yes, I save the plastic bags the charts come in!! lol!! We have so many of the same charts! Love it!! Happy stitching!!❤
ОтветитьLovely kits. I don’t blame you for leaving them together especially if they need multiple skeins. I am getting into multiple projects because of all the enabling that is on flosstube😂
ОтветитьRe: Home of the Brave. Take a picture of pattern, then take picture and reverse everything. I looked on IPad Photos this is easily done. Then fit original words in block. Should work👍🤞 hope this is helpful, hope you understand my approach, am a computer nerd. 🥸
ОтветитьGreat parade! I was planning on reversing the flag, moving the flag pole to the left and making it go down to the grass- I didn’t like the way it was facing and the flag pole on the grass made more sense to me.
ОтветитьOn the chart with the backward flag - that would bother me as well. Can you move the flag pole to the tip of the land on the other side of the little building? Wouldn’t the flag take up essentially the same “real estate” in the chart?
ОтветитьReverse the flag and put the flagpole along the left side so it still waves across the left side towards the right. That way you don’t mess with the big tree. The backwards flag bothers me too. Love too many of your kitted pieces.😊
ОтветитьNancy, all i can say is WOW!.....i started stitching 2 years ago. I am 75! I am trying to not buy anymorre patterns right now. I am basically a monogamous stitcher . I might have 2 to 4 patterns started. But thats it. Since you are 62 you have a long time ahead of you. As time goes on we decide which pattern we want to do. We change our minds. You are all set in case there is another dyisaster! Or you can open up a store! Lol. You are so funny. Love your sense of humor.
ОтветитьI am happy I found you! I had to chuckle when you talked about saving the bags that the charts come in. If they are a high-quality thick bag, you bet I save them. I find all kinds of uses for them.
ОтветитьI would personally rechart so the flag is not backwards. How is your knee doing? Is your PT done? I was a monogamous stitcher as well in the beginning. I think our environment has a lot to do with moving from one thing to the next. We are always multi-tasking , and I think it now has moved into our enjoyment time. Sorta sad, but we do still get to enjoy stitching all the things. Thank you for sharing.
ОтветитьJust found your flosstube. Great kit parade! If I was stitching the flag, I would try just moving the blue star field and pole to the other end before moving the tree. 🇺🇸. I would be in for stitching a Monochromatic Monday.
ОтветитьDon’t unkit things unless it’s dmc thread that can easily be replaced!! I would take one of your favorite “splurges”, start it, and work on it every day-a thread or 20 minutes or something that doesn’t seem like a chore. You’ll see progress!! Then I would do a Monochromatic Monday, Flag Friday, Tiny Tuesday, etc, but also a day or two for another “splurge” or two (Wow Wednesday, Terrific Tuesday/Thursday) and work on that one, etc. This way you could still stitch what you want according to your theme for that day but you wouldn’t feel like it’s a chore because you have multiple choices for the day. Besides, if it’s kitted, you might as well start it! Projects will never get done if they don’t at least get started!!! You’re retired now-enjoy life without the “shoulds” or “need tos”! And let go of the guilt of what you already purchased 🥰🥰🥰
ОтветитьI don't see a problem with having things kitted up ready for when the urge strikes.
With the one where the flag is blowing the wrong way , how about putting the pole on the left side and moving the star/blue corner?
I was a monogamous stitcher as a youngster, but this year, I got back into stitching and have about 40 kitted with 8 WIP'S. Love the Winchester reference! Now I'm a Hawkeye, "meatball surgery," but do it well!!!😊
ОтветитьI have about 7 WIPS and a ton of kitted projects. I am toying with taking the fancy floss out of my kitted projects and organizing Alphabetically by company. I plan to keep all projects that came as a kit together. Thanks Janine
ОтветитьOn the flag… I would just stitch a flag pole on the other end where the stripes are and then just stitch the flag the other way. That way you don’t have to move anything and you are only adding a flag pole straight down.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing all of your kitted projects. Personally, I wouldn’t unkit anything. You’ve taken the time to put it all together and if it were me, I’d leave it like that. If you have project cards for all of them you can always borrow a color and then put it back, especially your fancy flosses. DMC are easy enough to buy again at any of the normal stores that sell it. I was a monogamous stitcher in the 80s and early 90s. I had to go back to school to get my teaching credential and I quit stitching. When I retired in 2015 I got back into stitching again. Went right down the rabbit hole. I am not a monogamous stitcher. I have lots of WIPS and a few kitted up but not too many. For now I am focusing on pieces I want to finish. I have two more rows of the ocean to stitch on The Shores of HRH and then I will start the second block. I’m not stitching very many smalls right now so not so many finishes. Happy stitching!
ОтветитьFor the TPP Home of the Brave pattern, could you put a flag pole on the left side and just “flip” the flag? Seems that may be easier than moving lots of things. Also, I give all of my plastic bags to my LNS…I’m never gonna put things back in them…saves her money, and plastic in the landfill😊
ОтветитьThat was fun to see. I like seeing how and what people have kitted. With the Twin Peaks with the flag, I would mirror image the flag where it is and just move the flagpole to the edge of the piece (over to the left I think with the flag waving to the right). That way you don't have to move everything else.
ОтветитьSo many great designs!
ОтветитьYou seem very orderly to me. Maybe change your name from “disorderly” to “overwhelmed”😂
ОтветитьNancy, you really have some wonderful things kitted up. I am sure in due time you will get to the ones that are most important to you. In my mind, there is nothing wrong with a collection. Enjoy them and thank you for sharing.
ОтветитьOh I would have so many more WIPs if I had that many things kitted. So fun to see all your goodies. I personally wouldn't de-kit items unless you really didn't think you would get to that project. It's not wasted if you still plan on starting the project.
ОтветитьYea, the flag would bother me too. I’d spend the time to switch it because every time I looked at the frame piece it would look off.
ОтветитьNice stitching, Nancy! I have too many WIPs!
ОтветитьI will never, ever be a monogamous stitcher - but I am trying not to work on so many pieces at a time so that I have a potentially better chance to finish something! I have many kitted, I have no idea how many and the same with WIPs Sadly, too many, but I have no clue how many. I look at my kitted up projects and even those that are chart and fabric only from time to time and want to start them all - right now. But I try to refrain. Keep up the stitching and I look forward to the next update.
ОтветитьHi Nancy. I am a BIG fan of your floss-tube and ALL your projects. I too am a quilter. Trying to balance everything is hard. It doesn’t always work, but I do my sewing/quilting in the morning and afternoon after my chores are done. After dinner, I cross-stitch, crochet, or knit. The weekends are a “whatever I feel like doing”, with Sundays being mostly a cross-stitch day. Once college football starts up again, depending on when the Buckeyes play, will depend on what I do on Saturdays. Like you say, give yourself GRACE and stitch what YOU LOVE. My hubby was watching this episode with me. When you showed “Home of the Brave” and mentioned the flag “waving” the wrong way, Bob said, move the flag pole all the way to the left of the piece and just turn the flag. I hope this helps. I am so glad to see you are recovering so well. Maybe we can do a quilt along someday. Have a wonderful time stitching. See you soon.

I hope you know how much your videos really encourage me to stitch more often. I have depression and often forget how much of a mood lift cross stitch can be but you reminded me and I am now a constant Subscriber and supporter of your videos. Thank you for sharing your gift for uplifting spirits. Hugs!
