Im just in 5th grade and so much motivated by your vids

I keep trying to avoid it.. but I think I want to go to medical school.
I just completed my first of college and I did not do my best. I feel like this first year will mess up my chance of getting go to medical school, I tried to think of and span into other schools I would prefer like optometry or PA school, but I just feel like medical school is right there in the back of my MIND.
I need to use these next three years to do my best if I want to even think of applying but I don’t know😭 I feel like an idiot

Although Step 1 was difficult to prepare for, it was a simpler test than the MCAT. The third year was fantastic because you got to interact with and observe people. Medical education was undoubtedly much easier than training!

I'm starting to learn that it may not be the most desirable sought after school for medicine. But from my research it seems that the university of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York is a very good school to study medicine many renowned doctors have attended the university of Buffalo. I'm learning the tuition is much lower and that Buffalo New York has some of the best hospitals and specialists around?

It's my dream to enter med school

This reminds me of a very uneducated former coworker who was a generation above me, age wise. She said she did not go to women doctors, thought men were better but didn't know why. She also said it's women's lot in life to be home makers. An important job to be in the home as a wife, mother, care giver, cook, baker (all weekend for the coming week) and other 24/7 tasks that women are meant to do. I told her that is why she thinks women are not good doctors: they can't study hard, like the boys can, they have to 'get the dinner' every night. I hope that antiquated and just dumb idea is no where near these students.

I'm in med school, but in Canada - and we don't have the Step exams. In fact, we just went straight from preclerkship to clerkship without much of a transition at all. Sometimes I wonder if it would've been better to have dedicated time just for review... it's so different to our system.

I am literally a freshman in highschool and I want to be either an orthopedic surgeon or an cardiologist. Am I the only who is kinda of excited for the work the comes with med school? Like although it’s a lot of work and studying, your learning new things and the process and you are going to sound hella smart when your talking to patients and othe r people. I am kinda scared but not at the same time cause it’s all a part of a the process.

He’s right. Med school was some of the best years of my life. Getting to dissect cadavers in first year, learn physical exam skills in second year, see patients in third and fourth years, and scrub in on surgeries. It was demanding and rigorous, with all the lectures, labs, studying, and exams, but an enjoyable journey all the same.

I went to medical school a long time ago (1988-1992). USMLE wasn’t a thing yet. Back then it was the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) parts 1, 2, and 3. Similar exams and pressure though. Residency applications back then were via the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Probably similar to the current setup. It was like military boot camp…I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything but I wouldn’t want to repeat it either.

Does anyone feel like you could study alone in med school and be successful?? As an undergrad that's all I do and I feel like study groups would be more distracting, but everything I see online suggests study groups for med school. 🤔
