It's not every day you find someone who needs life-saving, true. But even if it's only a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, the stakes are still far too high to not know what to do when the condition actually happens. Before taking any step, make sure you're not in a state of panic or being nervous. You must keep calm and collected throughout the chest compression and rescue breathing routines.

The chest compression rate is around 100 times per minute and you should try to reach a depth of 4-5cm (1.5-2 inches) to actually be able to effectively pump the patient's blood. On some occasions even the ribs get fractured but that will heal (if the patient survives). Alternate 30 chest compressions with 2 ventilations or rescue breathings for the best survival chance. More in the video.

It’s nice that you mentioned calling Emergency Services instead of 911.

Non-Americans appreciate this.

So do you ever feel for a pulse, you know, the thing that CPR is designed to replace? Or do you just go on and start breaking the guy's ribs without checking to make sure they actually need it in the first place?

So, I don’t get it.. what’s the full sequence? You do 30 pushes on the chest, then 2 inhales/exhales, then just repeat?
Or if I haven’t been trained how to do CPR properly, it will be better to just do those pushes until the help arrives??

I love this video. Super helpful.

Unfortunately, right now most people are panicked because of COVID and probably won't do much?

It happened to me (sort of). Had a massive panic attack at work. I was on the ground pale, clammy hands, arm numbness, left arm and back pain, with my chest so tight I couldn't breathe. BP was like 160-170 when paramedics arrived. My coworkers and emergency response team just stood at a distance and asked if I was ok.. one of them even told me "I'm gonna stand right here because there's a virus out there."

Everyone needs to learn CPR no matter what age they are , we don't know when it might come handy. Also , most cardiac arrests occur at home so it's valuable in saving lives.

That’s why I subscribed to them because you can really learn something important from them like the CPR I really suffered from this one while I was trying to learn how to do it and now I fully understood it and I’m glad because you never know when you need to perform a CPR on someone. So thank you so much!
