I see o lot of Korra haters in the comments.
Let us not forget that the villains Korra faced were unknown.
Aang fought against an enemy about which he had full knowledge.
And as we know nothing scares and weakens a person more than unknown things.
Amon was the first person who was able take away someone's bending.
Unalak was able have the power of dark spirit.
And finally Zaheer
He is a monster. He was able to unlock the long forgotten technique of airbenders. Which Aang was not able to do himself.
All of the villains which she fought against were mentally strong people who clearly had philosophical notions which kept them fighting.
Korra on the other hand was just a teenage girl whose personality hasn't developed fully yet and who couldn't understand much.
Aang since childhood was trained mentally too which is in case of Korra is not the same. The reason why she has more raw power than Aang is because of that.

This is such a bizarre premise with a lot of factors at play.

1. Korra is the more aggressive and trained fighter.

While aang spent his formative years learning the ways of the monk, and not knowing he was the avatar until he was an older child (nearly a pre-teen), Korra was openly established as the avatar as a little kid, and trained for about a decade for practical purposes (but also because of the threat of the red lotus).

2. Korra is more direct. While she might not have a Killer Instinct or drive to harm first, she will engage and test boundaries right away.

She was trained since early childhood to fight, and knows and enjoys it. We've seen her grapple, strike first, and hit hard, alongside her bending.

3. Aang is more creative.

While aang Prefers to avoid conflict (due to his upbringing and later experiences, something we see he carries into the comics and his adulthood in flashbacks) he developed a variety of ways of Avoiding his enemies, primarily based around his air bending, but later on using the rest of the elements as well.

This resulted in aang being a lot harder to hit, lighter on his feet, and more spontaneous, compared to korra who is more direct, but easier to read and predict.

4. The Avatar State.

While i doubt Rava would ever allow it, it must be noted that both Avatars have their own unique relationships and hang ups with the state.

Aang has the benefit of the Entire chain of the previous avatars behind him, but is shown to be less willing to use it for anything less than a serious need (or possibly is unable to jump into it as quickly).

Korra on the other hand is much faster / more willing to use the avatar state (once she unlocks it), but beyond the second season lost her connections to previous avatars, and thus their experiences, guidance, and collective strength.

Conclusion:

Aang doesn't like to fight, and will do what he can to avoid having to, unless he has a solid reason to engage, and even then, won't go full throttle unless there's no alternative. He holds back, he is a pacifist at heart, and even his training in the show and comics let us see that he didn't dabble much in offensiveness by his own choice.

Korra would be willing to throw herself into this fight, not to the point of danger or risk, but likely out of curiosity and an interest in proving herself or testing how she measures up to her predecessor.

Anybody forget to mention that Aang passed his knowledge of getting into the avatar state on command to Korra, so she got the cheat sheet while Aang had to go through all the chakra's to gain control of the avatar state

Korra is only better because of plot armor and because she was alongside whole LoK poorly written...

Thing everyone forget the famous air scouter aang made that technique it show in a flashback he show that for the first time to other kids and he got freezes for 1000 later so he made that move

Aang literally invented the air scooter. Korra can't even come close to Aang

Let's not forget Aang was 12 and mastered all 3 non-native withing a year. Plus we have no idea and sadly no backstage development of him over the years to come

Aang don’t enter avatar state from season 2 end till end of season 3 and man survived the whole season. He’s the best!!!

If you count Avatar State as a particular avatar's skills, then the latter one is better. Because she/he can access the previous avatar's skills.

And you didn't even compare Aang's avatar state at the air temple after he found at monkey atso was dead

a comparison between yangchen and aang would be interesting to see

Narratively is think korra was always went to be stronger in raw power tho. And im pretty sure the authers if i remember just flat out said it right before the series starts

Why are we comparing korra to aang. Aang barely got trained at all before he defeated fire lord.

aang was able to do those skills in young age, while kora needed to b atleast teenager to get into avatar state, proving aang is much stronger... but... there is one person who is literally strongest now, its Toph... she is connected to the whole world by roots, imagine what she could do with her power, she could literally destroy avatar state if she would like to

Healing power is for water benders and aang is not born as a water bender so he cannot has that power,korra is from water tribe snd she has that rare power too

Taking and giving bending thing (energy bending) which taught to aang by lion turtle its unlocked by avatar aang ,however same avatar soul goes a cycle and they are connected when they are in their avatar state, so once one avatar on the cycle aang open new door it will be open to next avatars when they were in avatar state bcoz they are spiritually connected

The first time we saw the joyful happy innocent boy use his avatar state say it with your chest anger. I was on Aang’s side and still scared when he embraced his rage

If we talk about power ang is dominated every 4 main banding especially if he got in to avatar stage, his scale of banding is massive, but if we talk about skill korra have a lot of skill to use, and probably korra is the most talent avatar how to use her banding

Why need comparison, while they are same person

reason is that its 21 century,Femi....cough...nism....so why would Korra ever struggle air Bending on first usage(other bending too),afterall she is a strong,Independent and all-powerful-female protagonist (not at all sarcastic 😅)

Aang had to find teachers and was at the end tought by kids and still mastered it. Korra had the white lotusmasters to teachher from young age.
I like both avatars, but i prefer aangs story, cause its more story building with one strong archenemie at the end, korra had to defeat archenemies left and right, ki da overwhelming.

What's impressive is that Aang did all that in a span of less than a year.

In the Avatar state, Korra could still be beat up by her enemies almost too comically for the Avatar in the Avatar state..

Aang on the other hand, once he is in the Avatar state, i don't think he has ever been beaten except the time Azula unexpectedly zapped him from behind ..

Even without the Avatar state, Aang is way more creative and effective imo..

Some of the biggest difference is the fact that Aang purposefully gave Korra an upper hand when it came to mastering the four elements. Meanwhile,for Aang, he had to go out and find teachers to educate him on the practices, barely mastering any of the elements By the time he fought the fire lord.

Both absolutely brilliant characters.
