I had this when I was a back in 60's and you are decribing most of what went through when I was a kid. I still have to deal with it at 66. I don't have a lot energy and I can't handle a lot of emotional stress. It that part of it ?

Nice explanation.. This to everyone who worries alot about this.I got this disease when I was 9, then took penicillin injection for 4 years then tablets for next 7 years..Stopped taking medication without doctor's advice when I was 20..But I took acupuncture treatment for 2.5 years (once or twice in a month). Now I'm 25 My ASO titre level has reduced to 250+ from 400. (It should be below 200).. Anyways I feel healthy and mostly prefer home remedies for any controllable ill..Be confident and try homeopathy or acupuncture instead of Allopathy.. God bless ❤️

I was diagnosed with Rheumatic Fever when I was 11. Was admitted to a hospital for full one week and took home-rest for 3 months at home. Penicillin was administered and I was under observation. Scans were done which suggested that heart was not involved. But the expert opinion was to keep taking penicillin injections every 21 days till I am 21 years old as I was "vulnerable". It means those who has an attack of rheumatic fever are now prone to it.
I am really thankful for the timely intervention which saved my life. Later on my parents took me to several experts in this field. Some suggested penicillin on regular basis till I complete 18 years, others 21 years, some 35 years and still others suggested lifelong intake of penicillin.
I stopped when I hit 21, after a deep examination of heart echo and scans by experts. Penicillin is a very painful injection which had to be "test dosed" on the arms, every time, to check the allergy-status. Perhaps it was painful because it was in powder form which was mixed with water and then administered. Also there was this problem of syringe needle getting stuck because of the nature of penicillin. However it is a wonder- drug and kept me fine.
I am 38 now and leading a normal life. It is indeed dreadful to contract RF. But if you consult experienced physicians on time, you would lead a normal life.

Hello,
I've had my tonsils problems for years... after few years in, my heart problem started. l developed RHD after a few years and was told to finally took out my tonsils. I took an heart scan test (think its called EKG or EEG) and the heart beat patterns were missing lot of beats. Right now i feel that my heart would palpitate and skip a beat very often especially when i wake and before bed. I can feel it in my chest and my pulse when i get irregular heart beats. I am currently 28 years old, do i need to take meds to control it or do i need to get a surgery (i really want to solve this issue).Any help would be appreciated ... sorry about my English as i am no native speaker.

Was diagnosed at 12 years and got monthly penicillin injections till 18. My cardiologist advised then that I could reduce on the frequency to once or twice a year. It's been over 10 years and I feel great. It's important to run tests every year just to be certain all is well.

I have a question, I just got diagnosed with rheumatic fever, symptoms started a month ago. I still have leg joint pains when I try to walk, and I still have body jerks when I’m about to fall asleep. Sometimes I have finger movement out of no where. They put me on oral penicillin v potassium 250mg, taking it twice a day. Not the injections. Is this correct? I’m not taking any other medication just the penicillin. And I know it’s different for all but will these symptoms I mentioned go away?

for me, I got diagnosed last year, symptoms started a 3 years ago, I am now 17 years old and I take penicillin injection every 3 weeks after taking it every 2 weeks for more then 4 months. They say that my heart is good. Today I did the ASO test the result was 466 IU/ml and tomorrow I will go to the doctor . I hope that she will find some solution to reduce my joints pain.
