This reporter is telling as if only religious rituals is only reason for pollution of river while in reality major portion of pollution happens dues to industries, sewage water etc. Looks like BBC reporters are specially trained for feeding biased information in a very subtle tone.

BBC, Stop stupid nerrations. Ganga and Yamuna are not polluted by religious activities. They are located near large cities and industry. They are polluted mostly by sewage. I hope you don't consider sewage disposal as religious activity.

Load of bullcrap..i live in a town on the banks of chenab river in jammu..the river is clean and the river has a definite religious significance...the main reason for the pollution of ganga is not religion, if that was the case, it should have been much more polluted 200 years ago when religion had much more significance than today...the main reason for the pollution is industrial sewage waste and indirect industrial waste thrown by people(like plastic) ..not to mention that the population of northern plains also adds to the misery.....come and visit himachal pradesh and see rivers there, every river there has religious significance and still the rivers are damn clean....a load of codswallop being perpetuated by a reputable media organization

Ye BBC Hinduphobic chutiya banata hai, Yamuna aur Ganga ka 99% pollution sirf industrial and sewage waste se aata hai, Hindu Traditions meh toh sirf natural elements use kiye jaate hain nadiyon ki pooja ki jaati hai hazaron saalon se aue Nadiyan pavitra rehti thi, Abhi lockdown meh jab industries band hui thi toh sabne dekha tha kaise Ganga and other rivers crystal clear hoti jaa rhi thi.

Rivers are polluted because of industry and sewage water. We are worshiping rivers from thousands year and they get polluted in last 50 years
