I have not read any of the remaining books on the Giller Prize list, although I began to read If An Egyptian Cannot Speak English, and it was not for me. So much so, that I have decided to abandon book prizes for a little while. I am still excited to read We Measure the Earth With Our Bodies, The Sleeping Car Porter, and Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century, but I will read them in my own time. This year just reminded me of the inclusion of Glorious Frazzled Beings on the 2021 Giller list, and how much I disliked that book. Having read (and loved) much of the 2021 longlist just fired up thoughts of nepotism, backroom deals, and publisher/book prize conspiracies. I will stick to following the nonmonetary, voted by the readers BookTube Prize and let the others fall by the wayside for the time being. Just, you know, for my sanity lol. Can't be one of those conspiracy people. Another enjoyable video Ranier, I always look forward to days when you post something new.
